TGS: SNK Flurry!

Out in Japan, pretty much every arcade classic from all of SNK's main series have seen release on consoles as parts of compilations. In America, they just recently started bringing these out with Art of Fighting Anthology and followed shortly after by Fatal Fury Battle Archives. Now, the King of Fighters series is getting a similar treatment with King of Fighters: The Orochi Saga. Fans of KOF are probably already familiar with The Orochi Saga, but for everyone else, this is a chance to get familiar with the series' roots, taking the first four games, KOF 94-97 and putting them all together on the Wii, PSP, and PS2. There is also a Samurai Showdown Anthology on the PS2 and Wii, though exact details regarding which titles in the series will be included are still hazy.

Metal Slug fans can look forward to a new installment in the series on the Nintendo DS in Metal Slug 7. There is another compilation coming out in Neo Geo Arcade Classics. With all the fighting game compilations, it's probable that there will be some of the shooters that also helped make the Neo Geo big, like Ikari Warriors and NAM-1975 as well as sports games like Baseball Stars and Neo Geo Cup '98. This is all wishful thinking, keep in mind.

America will also see releases of already-in-arcades games (and soon-to-be-in-arcades) like King of Fighters: Maximum Impact Regulation "A" and the upcoming King of Fighters XII, which is promising a complete graphical overhaul. Consoles weren't specified.

To top everything off, three new games are going to be available for download on the current-gen consoles. The Xbox Live Arcade will be seeing Samurai Showdown 2 and Metal Slug 3. The Wii Virtual Console will be seeing Magician Lord, a platformer from way back in the Neo Geo's history. Precise release dates haven't been given, but SNK says they should have all of these stateside by the end of 2008.
