RAISED THE PRICE ONCE IT BECAME KNOWN THAT IT WORKS WITH THE 360 September 28, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Well That about sums it up. I got mine for 39.99 when I had an original Xbox. Once I upgraded to the 360 I went ahead and tried it out. And it worked. I really think this is a good item because you can set it closer to your wireless router and run an ethernet cable right to the back of your Xbox or Xbox 360. But the price really makes me ticked off.
Not perfect, but gets the job done. June 18, 2008 I bought this to use with my 360 (you have to set it up using an Xbox, so be warned, if you don't have the original Xbox, do not get this for the 360). It works and works fairly well. It's a bit slow, but I don't game online with the 360 as much as I use Xbox Live for downloads and whatnot, so I'm not needing anything all that fast. This is probably not the best product if you're looking to bump up your multiplayer gamerscore on Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, but it'll do fine if you want to merely download a tv show or the occasional demo.
Easy Setup June 13, 2008 Incredibly easy to setup, just plug it in. I didn't need to use the installation disc that came with it. Only thing I didn't like is it only supports WEP. There is supposedly a firmware hack available to enable WPA encryption, but I can't attest for that personally.
Works With The 360, $50 cheaper Than 360 Adapter. June 13, 2008 This adapter is designed for the original XBox but it DOES work with the 360. The 360 wireless adapter is $100 and this one is only $50. That alone is worth it's weight. Setup is easy on the 360, first plug in the bulky power supply adapter into an outlet. (Yet another power plug to add to my growing collection behind the TV.) Plug the included ethernet cable into the adapter and the other end into the 360. DO NOT use the included setup CD ROM! You don't need it. Once everything is connected, turn on the 360 and go to the dashboard and into the network settings. Have the 360 scan for available wireless networks, pick your network, enter your WEP key, tell it to test connection and you're done! It connected right away to my network and XBox live. Great! I just wish Microsoft would take Sony's approach and build all of this into the 360. I have the HD-DVD Drive and now the wireless adapter, which, combined with the 360 itself, halfway fills up a power strip with cords. If you want to get your 360 online at half the price, use this XBox adapter and not the 360 one (which is $50 more)
Purchased for my original xbox. Works great with my 360 Elite May 12, 2008 I had originally purchased this for my Xbox about five years ago. I got the Elite and hadn't hooked it up yet and had been looking online for a wireless adapter when I found this one in a box. I don't know why I hadn't expected it to be compatible but I held my breath as I hooked it up. It works like a charm and is pretty much invisible to my day to day use. I rarely notice it except at night when I turn off the lights. "Oh yea" I say as I see the green blinky lights and recall the money I saved.
