A step in the right direction! September 5, 2008 First of all, the game is not a replacement for all your exercise needs. It's a supplement/motivator. Secondly, it's not magic--it's exercise and it's not always enjoyable. Finally, and most importantly, it can really help you take a step in the right direction as you seek to live a healthier life!
Some people (like me) need a little bit of competition in pretty much anything they do. This game satisfies that need.
I also enjoy charting my progress. It's nice, and it helps keep me going as I work toward my goal.
The mini games will never win any gaming awards, but such a critique would be missing the point. And some of the games are actually pretty fun. I used to play soccer so I get a kick out of the "header" game.
This game is also a step in the right direction for Nintendo as it relates to the strength of the presently available libriary of software for the Wii. (Which unfortunately remains weak!)
Well worth the ivestment in the game, and certainly in yourself as well!

Great fun, but it has a few negatives September 5, 2008 After having the Wii Fit for over a month...would I stand in line for an hour on Sunday morning to get it again?? Yes. Could it use some improvements?? Yes.
Overall, it is a lot of fun and it works amazingly well. It is a game, not meant to replace a workout at the gym. Having said that, it is a great way to work in some fun exercise without it seeming like exercise.
I'm not going to give a detailed report - I'd just like to point out what I see as a big flaw. As I said, I would buy the game again. What would make me rate it a 5 star?? Getting rid of the beginning screen where the Wii Fit does it measurements and progress. My son is a big kid built like a linebacker, but far from a candidate for "The Biggest Loser". Each time he signs in he is informed "that's obese". I have to reinforce to him that he's not obese and to ignore the game...we are just playing for fun. Once we get past that, it is a lot of fun. The kids like to try to beat my high score in the aerobics games & they are getting pretty good! They are great at the balance games and find it extremely satisfying that they can beat me. My point...this is supposed to be a fun game. Why not make the negative comments in a file where you can look for them if you'd like.
One more note. I haven't found a need for any of the accessories. I already have an exercise mat and there's no need to buy the Wii one. We wear socks when playing, so no need for the silicone cover. Battery life after 1 month and lots of play time hasn't been an issue.
fitness fun September 3, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am having fun while improving my balance and laughing out loud is a side effect!
kids present to me September 1, 2008 My kids bought me the wii and wii fit for my birthday this last may. Mind you all my kids are grown and have left home. They now spend more time at my house playing this with me than they did their last years of high school. It has brought us back together and we love the sharing and competition as well. I am not much into video games but this being something you can stand up and be active and do is remarkable. We love it and look forward to more games that will get us up off the couch and bring us together for fun.
Not Effective Use of Exercise Time August 31, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I must say though the Wii fit is mildly entertaining, it was not what I has expected when I purchased it. I thought I would be able to have a fitness class or some training at home. What the Wii fit offers is a demonstration of very short exercises you can choose to do. There is no 'class' or even substantial segment of fitness routines anywhere on Wii fit. You must INDIVIDUALLY select to do a single yoga pose or a single set of push-ups. After each one, lasting approximately 1-2 minutes, you must choose to "retry" or "quit". When you "quit", you return to a menu to select another individual exercise. There are several things in between each and every exercise you complete providing feedback and a score. Not bad information but terrible to stop constantly and push A and wait again for another menu choice. The menu will suggest doing 2 exercises in a row, but you cannot highlight or select that as an option and have 2 in row come on screen.
The graphing and progress reports are interesting and beneficial. The concept of the board being able to measure and assess balance is great. I just don't have the extra time to stop and wait between each movement. Going through the menus constantly is frustrating when I want to exercise. It takes about 55 minutes of time to accomplish 30 minutes of workout as logged by the Wii fit.
