So addicting! August 26, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
i love this game! i have only a few WII games and Mario Kart is the one i play most. i love the driving games and this one is my favorite. i use to play it on super nintendo and now it's even better with the little steering wheel for the WII. i'm pretty sure i'll still be playing this game in 5 years, unless something better than the WII comes out. lol
Fantastic game but problems developing online August 26, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Mario Kart Wii is a fantastic game. In fact I would say it is the best Mario Kart game to date. If you are buying this for the online play though, you may want to reconsider. The online play is being plagued by cheaters. They have codes they can use so they have star power through the entire game for instance. There are also ways they can have unlimited bullet bill, etc.
Great game to play with friends, but the online play is being ruined by geek cheaters.
A great "pick and up play" type game for the whole family! August 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What a great game this is for the ENTIRE family! Our 3 preschool-aged sons love this as much as I do, their 37-year-old mom. It is easy enough at the beginning to simply "pick up and play" without the steep learning curve of other racing games. Yet, it gets progressively more challenging as your skills increase. The game is packed with features and options that keep it highly entertaining. While Mario Kart Wii can be hard to find online and/or at the store, keep trying! The wait was worth it!
Wii are Having Fun Racing! August 25, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
After playing this game on my friend's Wii, I went out and bought a Wii and this game. That's how much I enjoyed it.
I have the original Mario Kart for the Super Nintendo. The basic game play is pretty much the same. You are controlling one of the characters from the Mario universe as you attempt to race around tracks and win. Along the way, you can pick up power ups to help you or hinder your opponents. Of course, that means they can attack you as well, so watch out.
With this incarnation, you've got 32 courses to play. You start out with half of them available and earn the other half as you win races. They include fun new courses created for this version as well as the best of the courses from the older incarnations of this game.
This game can be played by one person or up to four people, each needing their own controllers. Naturally, with four players, the screen becomes smaller, so you'd want to have a larger TV.
You can also play this game over the internet. I've raced against friends across town who also have it. Or, if none of them are on line, you can race against strangers. The game will set up matches from your region or around the world.
But what really makes this game amazing in the remote. Each copy comes with one steering wheel. That's right. Just put your regular remote in the wheel and suddenly you can steer your car. I still haven't figured out quite how they set the receiver to do that. You don't need to use the wheel, however. You can just use your remote, although it isn't nearly as much fun. Heck, you can even use your nunchuck controller if you'd like.
The graphics are quite uneven on this game. The newer levels look pretty good, but the older ones are done in the same, cheesy style. Admittedly the entire thing is rather cartoonish. But it really don't dampen my enjoyment in the slightest.
Overall, this is a fun game that I know I will be playing for a long time to come.
Fun, online feature is great. August 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Back in the day I did not like Mario Kart on the SNES, so was reluctant to buy this. I am glad I did though! This is a fun game. Graphics are good for the Wii and it is great for multi player. It handles surprisingly good with the wii wheel, which is very responsive.
The feature which makes the game is the online feature. It is cool to play people around the world. When you log on, it selects 11 other random people from around the world. It is also totally safe for kids, as there are no talking or chat features. Just racing the tracks.
This is the best game which I have played so far for the Wii - 5 stars! Dont pay the high prices right now though. I understand more stock is arriving to stores at the start of September. You should be able to pick this up for the usual $50 price.
