4 out of 5 stars So Awesome but just so lacking   September 10, 2008

THis game is an amazing instalment in the final fantasy series. The characters are amazing, the graphics, the story, the gameplay, the character classes etc. were all near flawless. The only real problem is the replay ability. The game ends in a way that prevents you from continuing past its completion. Once you beat it, you just keep starting over at the halfway point of the last mission, so you can never leave it or ever go on to further develop your characters. That puts you at a complete standstill in the game with the only remedy being to have had the presence of mind to have made a separate save file before the last mission. Otherwise, once you beat it, that's it, you cant continue, you just have to restart the game all the way from the beginning, all that progress lost. Which sucks with a game like this. Thats why i can't give it 5 stars, im sorry FFT, but the end is just a let down.

I bought this game for my husband, who happens to be 40yrs old. He loved the old Final Fantasy, however, he does not even play this one!!! He said it is not fun because it is too hard to play.

5 out of 5 stars The best Final Fantasy!   September 7, 2008

The best Final Fantasy!! Yes its better than FF6 and 7! I love it on PS1 and even more on PSP with the newly added classes and cutscenes, and now even portable. I heard many people complaint about the slowdown when you cast a spell or special attack, it doesn't really bother me. It was annoying at first for a hour and then I just got used to it and it doesn't really bother me anymore. Pick it up if you love SRPG! The best one there is.

5 out of 5 stars Gaming Revival   August 27, 2008

I basically got this game because I tried to play the PS1 original twice before and could never get past the first few battles. I figured if I got this version, it'd settle once and for all the greatness of this game. And once again, I was right. They took all the great things about the original and added to it. Better camera control, improved translation and controls, new jobs and characters to use (including Balthier from FFXII and Luso from FF Tactics A2.) If you liked the original and want to get taken back, try this game out. It'll give you what you enjoyed the first time around and more.

2 out of 5 stars A lot of disappointment with a little excitement   August 22, 2008

I'm going to make this short and sweet because the other low reviews pretty much cover everything. This was a weak remake of a great game. Now I know everyone who loves the original FFT wants to give this 5 stars, but this was [..].

Sounds and animations that separate, a rather over-complex dialogue (I liked the one in the original. Yes, I know it was rushed and came out bad, but that added some of the charm). Everything slows down for no reason, you would've thought they would have worked stuff like this out before releasing this game.

But wait, 2 NEW JOB CLASSES ZOMG! One is useless unless you master all the other classes (and find it's equipment in VS mode) and the other is really too difficult to worry about getting in the greater scheme of things.

Nice try, I hope they get it right the next time around.
