5 out of 5 stars It pays to go to best buy at 5am...   November 20, 2006

I got one this am and it's truly just... awesome... Nintendo really did take interactive gaming to the next level.. that's the only way I can think to describe it. If/when you get this console - before you play any games you bought, play the wii sports game that comes with it... it's pretty cool.

Also - it has a built in wireless adapter that works for an 802.11b connection (not g). If you don't have a router that does b or if you don't have a wireless router period: there are 2 adapters you can get. There is an ethernet adapter, as well as a wireless usb adapter - the wireless usb adapter plugs into your pc and the wii wil utilize your pc's internet connection.

5 out of 5 stars The Wii is great   November 20, 2006

I think the Wii is very fun. You get in the game and feel more action. I recommend Wii Sports (the bowling game is great).

4 out of 5 stars Nintendo Wii- fun for all ages   November 20, 2006

You'll have to try it out for yourself, but from my full 24 hours with the system, I have a pro/con list:

pros:
-Throw away your Gamecube! It plays the games, has 4 slots for GC controllers, and memory card slot
-WiFi with a browser on its way out
-Controller really puts you in the games
-Comes with WiiSports which is a good starter game for learning to use the remote
-FUN!
-MyWii is neat
-Can save MyWii to a remote and use your remote on someone elses Wii

cons:
-Quite a few titles already released, but nothing I want to play
-Controller takes some getting used to and doesn't seem right for all games
-Virtual console games a bit pricey ($5-$10), especially since I already own them on other consoles
-Had to re-sync controllers twice already. What happened?
-$60 for extra nun-chuck and remote x 3...

5 out of 5 stars Great console for the best price   November 20, 2006

This review is based on my experience playing for one day with Wii Sports. The games is INCREDIBLE. The controls are all they promised they would be, with high intuiton content and a very accurate reflection of the actual moves you should make to play the real sport. Excellent console for this generation.

5 out of 5 stars Wii - Imagine the possibility (NINTENDO'S BACK)   November 20, 2006

I'll make this quick.

1) Price is VERY reasonable. I like to think of it as a suped up GC - with all of the add on features I never got (ethernet ,etc).
2) Remotes ARE AWESOME. Intiutive - and makes you THINK about the possibilites. Exercise using the WII!!!
3) Can use previous GC accessories -Thanks for the $$$ saving. Why would you redesign "yet another joystick controller" for the sake of it (or a memory card? - Speed and size - not as important - wireless way more important). INVENT and focus on breaking new ground. Again Nintendo nailed it.
4) Easy to setup. Wirelessly connected in minutes. Registered and online shopping in minutes. About 10 games to download at launch. This was COMPLETE thinking on Nintendo's part.
5) You create yourself as Mii and they get to meet people in plaza online - friends etc. It's like IM - but better packaged and really fun.
6) Nice clean sleek package to play all the previous classic nintendo games, etc. (gc,n64,supernes,nintendo,tg16 - I have all of those bulky systems and now I can time capsule them - without losing the opportunity to play the best games of those systems). Imagine the demand for GOLDENEYE and the forums that will allow you to ask for each and every game to download. Nintendo is genuis ($$$) and while they are out to make a buck - they really make you think its ALL about the gameplay with this system. PS3 will have horsepower and a boatload of features- but ultimately you need GOOD games and INGENUITY. REALLY happy with my purchase.

So ONE "I hope they improve":
1) Sensor bar - I want a longer cord. I also want the bar to allow for a movie screen between the sensors and the remotes. Also, an ability to move the sensor around (and adjust the game setup to account for where its located -like a projector). I imagine they will get an accesory for this.

Go get one! Now...the moment is here.. I'm off to try Zelda...
