Functional but demanding port September 10, 2008 I love the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games, and this is the first version that I have owned. Truth be told, this game was designed for the consoles, so it is a port and therefore requires more power than is seemingly necessary to run it.
That said, I don't have any problems running it at 800 x 600 with low detail (which, despite being the lowest setting, is still higher resolution than a non-HD tv). I run the game on both my custom-built desktop (Q6600 Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz, 4GB RAM, X1950XT 256MB VRAM, Win XP Pro) and my MacBook Pro (T8300 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, GeForce 8600M GT 256MB VRAM, OSX Leopard).
The included controller is the older xbox 360 model, so it's a wired USB controller. Gameplay is great, just as good as when I play on friends' PS2 or Wii.
The only thing that disappoints me is that there's no way to download songs. This should be an area in which the PC rules (even though all the consoles have this capability now), but even though there's a function in the menu, it always says that it's unavailable.
Still, overall I highly recommend this to anyone without one of the gaming consoles or who would like to do some portable rocking out.
Pros: Excellent gameplay PC/Mac Hybrid disc Portability when using a laptop
Cons: No downloadable content Medium and high graphics settings require more power than they should

Unable to rate this product as I was unable to get it to load on the computer. It was returned to Amazon.
Excellent Playability September 2, 2008 I've got a reasonable gaming PC that I put together from scratch about a year ago. I have two of these controllers and the PC version of GH3 works absolutely flawlessly. There's essentially no setup, the controller driver was already present in Windows Vista after installing the game. No stuttering/choppy video. No sluggishness. Both controllers are accurate and are synchronized with the on-screen notes. It's a blast when I play it with my wife. She's the "Slash" to my "Duff". :-)
Careful people August 31, 2008 When you get this game, make sure you have your computer upgraded already. I can't tell you how many of my friends have bought this without realizing they're computers aren't set up properly.
I use a GeForce 8600 GTX 756 Mb 2 Gigs of Ram
funnily enough only an AMD 3200 single core, old school
I can run the game pretty well, though i'll get random chops that last about half a second once or twice a song (which we all know can destroy us). Great game overall and really convenient if you're a PC gamer.
Solid Game July 28, 2008 Good solid game,my son love's it. Ok there are alot of mixed reviews on this game mostly about performance/ system requirments. The game runs great on an AMD 4000 single core socket 939 cpu and a 7600 gt with 2 gigs ram using windows xp home edition. Just down load the update patch from manufacture web page and your set to go.
