2 out of 5 stars Extremely Inferior To Other Versions   March 19, 2007
1 out of 2 found this review helpful

I bought this game because I liked the idea of being able to play it on a console instead of being chained to a PC or laptop. I knew it wouldn't be AS involved as the PC version, but I could not believe how much it lacked. It was not even as good or involved as "Bustin Out", which came before this one. The Sim builder is the WORST, very few choices and you cannot really make your Sims look very different from one another at ALL. With the few options you're given, they all look the same. The houses are different, the layout is different and, like a few have mentioned before, there are no babies. There are so many things an avid Sims fan will be expecting, but will not get with this version, so I'd say don't waste your money. Just get an expansion pack for the superior PC series or stick to the original Sims or "Bustin Out" if you want a console version. They're much more fun and rewarding. This version makes one think that the designers merely 'threw something together' to capitalize on potential console sales.

Personally, I KNEW that this game was gonna suck BIG time. Ever since I saw the commerical, I could see that this was going to be a huge down-fall of the great games Maxis has made.

I do not get why the hell they would just leave out the 2 floors, neighborhood mode, and children... AND pools. What the hell is left after all these great things have been stripped down? NOTHING. I am very disappointed in maxis now. I used to love the sims games but.. This is NOT a sims 2. It is more like a sims.. Zero. No babies. All the previous ones had babies. No pools. All the previous ones had pools.

No decent and non-futuristic furniture.

No nice rugs.

Not many furniture.

A waste of money.

ANDD it feels soo alone in there sometimes.. Pretty depressing. And I DID not like the fact that they could not die. Ghost mode? Wow what a great idea! What can you do? Puke on people? Haunt people? Possess them? Wail? HOW FUN! Geeee I NEED THIS GAME!

And when you finish the game, you are left with a feeling that you wasted your money.

And the only fun part is making the sims. Not that they look normal, anyway. They look like.... Just not like normal people. They can't be ugly. They can't even look fat.

It's more like a DVD interactive game.

So note the advice below.

I advise you to just send this to someone who you are not very fond of.

3 out of 5 stars It's not that bad.   July 31, 2006

Okay, everybody is saying it's really repetitive and there is no storyline. NOT SO TRUE. You have to find the NEW LOCATIONS. Once you get through a couple of new locations, you have to complete OTHER people's goals, and they get much harder (you find yourself playing more with the other characters than with your own, and you have to take care of like three!)! There are like 13 locations, and the locations are like levels. I've only gone up to the Biodome place, which is about half-way.
I wouldn't recommend buying this game, but it IS fun to rent and it seems more fun because you haven't played it in awhile. TWO PLAYER IS AWESOME, so get a friend and play!

3 out of 5 stars Very Repetetive   July 27, 2006

This game is fun.... for the first 30 minutes. Then it gets extremely repetitive. You fall in love with a girl, you clean puddles in the bathroom, you make yourself a meal... It all gets very boring, and very repetitive after a while(and I only played this game for the first time yesterday).

The characters speak in gibberish, which is very annoying, and they lindsay lohan/avril lavinge/hilary duff type music(with gibberish words) on the stereo which the computer sims keep turning on. I hate that type of music. I turn it off, and they turn it on again. When you get a job, you just go to a carpool. You don't actually get to see the office or anything.

From reviews of the computer version I was expecting more

3 out of 5 stars The Sims 2 for Gamecube   July 20, 2006

To make it short and sweet, for those of us who don't meet the requirments for the computer version of The Sims, this version (which is also on PS2) is the best one for consoles. I've played all three of the console Sim games and this (or Bustin' Out!) is my favorite. It's really solid, the worst part is not being able to have a kid. Other than that, all the regular stuff is still there (along with some neat things like learning/cooking recipes). However, the computer version is better because there is so much more. Hope you found this helpful.
