Nice and betther than the arcadias.... March 13, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I like much this game since it appears in the SNES... but now it's more "speedy" and betters graphics...
Ready for a healthy challenge? Look no further. February 21, 2007 F-Zero GX is a blast. It's blazingly fast (I'm talking oh-my-gosh-I'm-going-to-throw-up kind of fast), it looks great, and it offers plenty of challenge to boot. In fact, if you're looking to unlock anything, you're gonna have to put some serious work into memorizing each track and perfecting your technique. This fact lowers the widespread appeal of the game, and it is darn near impossible at higher difficulty levels, but it is immensely rewarding and an absolute riot to play. A solid story mode and great multiplayer round out a quality, well-made package.
F-Zero tough January 3, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game is tough. Twitchy controls with very little lateral feel. High speed thrills with completely unrealistic turning and braking. In short, a great arcade game.
The unforgiving physics of the game give a quality which is just this side of frustrating. On some tracks, an hour of replays is necessary before attaining a level of competence.
I am reminded of coin-ops back in the day. Total fun - Highly recommended.
This game embodies perfection.... April 2, 2006 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I can honestly say, in all my years of gaming, I've never had as much fun as I have had with F-Zero GX. It has, by far, the best replay value of all the games on the Cube. Everything in this game is executed flawlessly: the sleek tracks wizzing by you at 1200km/h full with 29 other racers, the detailing on the machines, the menu interface, the songs for the racing tracks...the list goes on and on.
I never thought of Sega as much more than an EA. I considered their games to be largely unrefined, and lacking in innovation and inspiration. Then I played GX and that view completely changed. Sega has gone to extraordinary lengths to make this a game worth playing; take the title screen's camera sequence of following Capton Falcon's ship around a track packed with exitement, for example. Fire Field's Cylinder Knot, a racing level stationed inside a volcano, is brewing with bright orange lava everywhere, with sparks jumping all over the place. When there is a major beat in the song (like a measure's downbeat), the camera angle changes to a new view. This switching keeps the race fresh for the whole length of the title song. Another special characteristic of this game is its ability to suspend disbelief. The tracks are set in busy, believable levels loaded with background effects that truly make you feel like you're there. This is in stark contrast to F-Zero X's flat, boring levels. Sega saw this was a problem, busied up the background, and threw the track all over the place in whacky, exciting loops, turns, and jumps. It's aesthetically refined graphics like these that make the game truly unique and worth playing.
There simply aren't many other games with this level of perfection in continuity. Nothing feels left out, and nothing feels overrated. If I were going to be left on an island and could only take one game to play, this would be that game.
