3 out of 5 stars Wierd...   September 1, 2007

Ok, so its another pokemon game. You would think it would be the same as the rest. Well, it isn't. The game play and the whole idea is the same but there are these wierd little animations your characters perform when they pop out of their pokeball. At first it was bearable but it just gets on your nerves after a while. If you turn off the animations though then there is no movement what so ever even when you attack and it gets kinda boring. If you love pokemon then go for it. But the rest should just play one of the other games.

5 out of 5 stars The best Pokemon game for the Gameboy Advance.   August 15, 2007

This Pokemon game is undoubtedly the best of the GBA Pokemon games. Not only are there asthetic changes, the changes to the core system make the game that much more rewarding. The nature of every Pokemon is now a factor in battle, affecting their statistics in unique ways. Animation, a new feature, is done with a scant 2 frames, but it injects much more personality into Emerald than the games that came before it could ever have. Connecting to friends is also rewarding, with several features that are directly influenced by your friends. Again, this is a great game to get if you have a DS or a GBA.

5 out of 5 stars Son absolutely loves this game   August 3, 2007

My 10 yr old had been pretty much playing with his PSP for the last year, and had relegated the GBA to storage. Word of this game, and trying a hand at it at summer camp, made him dig out the GBA and order this game.

He has played it for probably 15 hours , and is nearly done with all the levels (I think 2 to go). He has had lots of help from friends, and that has helped get him over the frustrating (several) parts he can't figure out on his own. Overall, a bit less aggrevation than some of the PSP games he's tried (most of which are geared to older teens+). Highly recommend, based on what I've seen and heard from him (and no, he didn't get sapphire or ruby).

ADDED NOTE: DO NOT allow your young child to try any of the "cheats" downloaded online!!! My son tried one that I believe was maliciously placed on a website by someone (which asked the user to turn the game off in the middle of a save) and which DELETED his entire game save, which was almost the entire completed game except the last level. He was so crushed, he quite playing it and refuses to play it again, because he had almost finished the game. I called several Gamestops, and even Nintendo Cust Svc (open late 7 days a week) and spoke with a game specialist who said this is a common problem, and there is NO cure...use cheats at your own risk. All of the half-dozen Gamestop employees I spoke to had this happen to them when they were a bit "younger", and said they wouldn't do it again. Lesson learned !

5 out of 5 stars Great Game!   June 18, 2007

Pokemon Emerald is an RPG (Role Playing Game) for the Game Boy Advance. Even though Pokemon Emerald is like an exact copy of Pokemon games Ruby and Sapphire, there are still some exclusives to the game. Like the chance to go to the Battle Frontier, and catch all Hoenn Pokemon. Pokemon Trainers also have different Pokemon and different levels. Pokemon Emerald allows you to capture Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza.

The Pokemon Company, Game Freak, and Nintendo have designed Emerald differently from Sapphire and Ruby, and the main Pokemon trainers look much different. Pokemon Emerald is definitely a great game to buy!
