4 out of 5 stars Fantastic GPS LOADED with features   June 1, 2008

This is a GREAT GPS complete with the latest maps and excellent directions. Blue Tooth Features, points of interest and MSN Direct infomation adds so much more to the functionality of the system. Very few errors are ever encountered on the GPS. Adjusting The volume of the Blue tooth system is a little difficult and I could not get the FM Transmitter to be picked up on the car radio but it has an internal speaker. MSN Direct is highly recommended as it will pay for itself as you can monitor gas prices around you and select the one for the best savings. It snaps in and out of the cradle easily. The feature to find your car works great in open parking lots but is a problem in a parking garage. All things considered, you will love this product.

4 out of 5 stars Nuvi 780 as good a navigator as many other Garmin models.   June 1, 2008

The Garmin Nuvi 780 is a solid Gps navigator.
Like most GPS I have seen, the Nuvi 780 is about 90%
accurate when navigating to an address.
You can get directions on the Internet from
Google maps, or Mapquest if the Nuvi does not have
an address. The fee map upgrades from Garmin were nice
too. The wide screen is a help for people with trouble
seeing the much smaller displays on other models.
The bluetooth works very well. I would also like to
say I love MSN direct.

Now the bad!

The Nuvi 780 is expensive and when you pay alot you expect
alot. The FM transmitter sucks. It does not function well
as it is low powered. You would think for the money you pay
that it should be good, but its not.
I had to get a separate FM transmitter for this Nuvi.
More turn by turn voice prompts would be helpful.
The Nuvi 780 will many times tell me to make
a turn at the last second. My Dell Axim was better for that,
but the support stopped and that's why I got a Garmin.
Why isn't the MSN direct antenna built in to the GPS?
You have to have the GPS connected to the car adapter
because it serves as the antenna. I think it would be
nice to have the portability. I would expect more from
the media player. The media player wont play video. Now
some may ask "UH why would you need to play video on
a GPS?" Well why do they make games for these? Why are
we paying soo much for soo little? It would be nice if
you are flying or in a doctors office. It would have also
been nice to have a larger variety of voices giving you
turn by turn directions as offered with TomTom.

5 out of 5 stars Everything I wanted/needed for a car GPS   May 31, 2008

I won't talk about specs, they are listed here.

My use of this GPS has been while driving in the Mid-Atlantic states in a 2008 Honda Civic. I have had it for several months and enjoy it's ease of use.

It just works well! I like the large 4" screen size too.

I don't need POI or bluetooth so can't speak about those features. The directions are clear and accurate.

The FM interface is great.

I love my new Garmin Nuvi 780 ... it is very easy to use ... I just took it on a trip to Dallas with my family and we all loved how we could just go anywhere on the spur of the moment .. checked movie times .. checked restaurants. it was great.

I use it with Bluetooth connection to my cell phone ... it is great because it auto connects each time I get in my car ... It was easy to get the sound to come from my radio by simply dialing the right FM channel. But, I need to get an external microphone .. everyone tells me they think I am in a tunnel, and cannot hear me unless I move the NUVI near to my face (this is not reasonable), so I plan to get a microphone so I can answer the phone and place the external mic on my visor.

I am a real estate agent and I was looking for a navigation system with trip planner. This does the purpose. The shortcoming is although device is bluethooth enabled, it works with few phones only. When I made calls to Garmin their customer service told me to change my phone or the Garmin..unbelievable. Also the car charging cord never worked.
