The vehicle power cable that originally comes with the nuvi, must be used with the dashboard mount. The cable I bought was extra, but well worth it! I can use the nuvi with the power cord plugged into the cigarette lighter. Works great!

I returned this item since the GPS unit came with one. This should have been noted in the description of the GPS itself.
