  Fabulous keyboard September 16, 2008
Excellent keyboard. I love the soft feel of the keys and the gentle blue glow. I don't use the wrist support due to space limitations, but it still feels fine. Definitely one of the best choices I could have made in this price range. I don't think other backlit keyboards could compare for the price.
The only possible issue I could see is that the silver paint on the keys might wear away, and allow too much light through - obscuring the letter. I'll try to be mindful of that and not play with the keys too much if I'm waiting for a webpage to load.

Not only did I order this keyboard for myself, but my sis-in-law and my cousin also had me order one for them. We all LOVE them! The illuminated keyboard is not only pretty, but it helps out so much at night, in a dimly lit room. I would highly recommend this keyboard.
 Great keyboard for those of us who type in the dark September 9, 2008
I initially got this keyboard as an upgrade with my Dell XPS 710 H2C. The reason I chose this keyboard was for the backlit feature. I sopend many nights coding in the dark (literally and figuratively). Prior to purchasing the Saitek it was difficult to see the keys and my coding was slowed down. I was amazed at the difference having backlit keys made, I am able to see the keys and my typing speed increased.
I have purchased a second Saitek because the "o" key on my original keyboard broke (and, no Dell would not allow a return; long story). I have had the second keyboard for about 10 months and it is working great.
It is nice thaat the backlit feature can be removed, as my wife hates it. However, I could not live without it. If you are looking for a nice keyboard with the backlit feature I would highly reccomend this Saitek. The only con I have found is that the wrist rest is worthless. It is constantly coming off (so I threw it away). Other than that this is a great keyboard.

The coating on the keys is poor and has begun wearing off after only 6 months. Its the "gap" in the coating that creates the letter shapes. Therefore, some letters will soon be hard to read. N and M already look like blobs
Also: I use the volume controls frequently.. NONE of them are back lit,
Also, the position of the light source behind the numeric keys make it very hard to read the punctuation marks that you use with the shift key. For example, when you need #,$,or % I have to shift far forward over the keyboard to see these symbols.
