Very good phone system November 5, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this to replace a 2 year old Radio Shack phone which now seems ancient by comparison. I bought the four handset model and I'm very pleased with it.
Positives: Sound quality is excellent; handsets light but not cheap feeling; computerized voice which tells you who/what number is calling is useful (even if it comes out a bit garbled sometimes); it's great the way the handsets talk to each other so that you don't have to multiple-enter names into your phone book - enter it into one and it gets sent to all the others.
Negative: As noted in other reviews, the "new message waiting" indicator turns off even if you only listen to the first message and you have other new ones waiting. Minor inconvenience though.
Hard to believe in this day and age. November 2, 2008 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
I would agree with A. Mandel except I would not be as kind. Physical it's a nice phone but the human interface is one of the worst I've seen in many years.
Cell phones and many other products like them have matured enormously in the past few years but I equate this phone to running DOS on a current PC. Unlike the base station which has its own set of issues, to listen to recorded messages it takes pressing the menu button, middle of the top row, then the select button the right button of top row. This may sound trivial but it's not. If you are right handed like I am and hold the phone in your left hand the Select, Yes, Phone Book, and most of the more frequently used buttons are the furthest away. Over a hundred years ago they arranged the keys on the then new typewriter to be inefficient to slow down the typist so as to not overrun the mechanics. I would hope in this day and age it would not be needed. I would not buy this product again.
Not quite as good as expected... November 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a really good product but not better than its 5.8 predecessor. Contrary to what some have found, the batteries were better in my Panasonic 5.8. (Or, for some reason, the 5.8 was more efficient) --- I suspect the rechargeable Panasonic batteries could be a bit stronger. That is, the batteries do not last as long when in use or when slowly draining when it is not in use but not in a cradle. Moreover, the 5.8 phones seemed more more substantial --- that is, perhaps a bit more solidly made.
The 6.0 has one new feature (or feature that was not turned on on the 5.8 --- the light on each phone blinks when you have a message. That's helpful.
Neither the 6.0 or 5.8 have given me any issues. Both work well near the computer, the voice called ID function works as advertised, and so on.
Buy with confidence.
Nice to have October 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I like this set mostly because it has a caller block on it and the number of extra phones. It's easy to set up. The only con I have is sometimes the phone won't respond and you have to replace it on base for it to reset.
nice product October 27, 2008 I would recommend this item to everyone. I like the features of this phone a lot. I really like the intercom/page another phone feature. The only thing I didn't like, is that the answering machine doesn't beep when someone leaves a message.
