5 out of 5 stars Encourages Logical Thinking...and yet fun!   August 11, 2008
Fun!!! With my background in hard sciences, I always love puzzles and especially those with logical thinking required. An added bonus is that many times these puzzles, once solved, provide great satisfaction. As an adult I really enjoy this game and often cannot put it down much to my husband's impatience at times! As an educator (although in a university setting), I strongly feel that this is a great game for kids AND adults for encouraging critical thinking (at least for some of the puzzles...others you just need common sense). The characters portrayed in the travels of the Professor and his assistant Luke through the Village are fun, strange and give the background story & mystery an enjoyable escape into the video game world.

5 out of 5 stars Abosolutely amazing game   August 9, 2008
Before i bought my Nintendo DS, I didn't see any point in buying the console because none of the games sparked my interest, until i picked up my friend's and tried Professor Layton out.. The characters, dialog, and game design are absoutely amazing and convinced me to buy a DS. This is a MUS HAVE if you own a DS

5 out of 5 stars Did not expect it to be this good!!   August 7, 2008
You may think you wont like it, but give it a try. You will be suprised. The whole family wanted to play this game with me :)

4 out of 5 stars A ten year old's point of view   August 6, 2008
I rated Professor Layton and the Curious Village 5 stars because it is a fun and challenging game with witty math, word, spacial, and logic puzzles. The puzzle difficulty is random, so be prepared for a hard puzzle in the beginning. This is a great family game because for the harder puzzles you need teamwork. There are 12 mysteries, including 11 sub-plots. Learn everybody's names, so when other people ask you to talk to someone, you will know where they will be. All in all, Professor Layton and the Curious Village is a great family game and I know that you will love it!

5 out of 5 stars Keeps me busy for hours   July 29, 2008
I work for a security company, and I often find myself in the middle of nowhere with nothing to look at and nobody to talk to. This makes falling asleep a serious risk, as in a risk to my employment and potentially a risk to the people and property I'm protecting. How do I avoid this problem? Playing games like this.

As you wander the village trying to solve various mysteries, people keeping challenging you to solve various puzzles they give you. I must admit, sometimes, all you want to do is enjoy solving the mysteries and the number of puzzles you have to deal with at times can be annoying once in a while, it keeps your brain active, and the puzzles range from easy but makes you feel smarter for knowing the answer so fast all the way to spending far more time then you would ever expected it would take to solve a puzzle in a game rated E for everyone. The cover makes the game look childish, but take my word for it, it keeps adults guessing too.

It was worth every penny to buy this game.
