  The alarm can't play audio files... May 18, 2008

I got the clock from a popular store in Spain, two days ago.
Funny thing, the guys from the store didn't even know that it could play mp3.
But now I think I'll give it back.
The reason is that the alarm can't be used with the mp3 player.
I would like to wake up with mp3 files from the SD.
Does anyone know if there is one with such option or other similar?
I normally use my mobile phone, but I want a clock like this, but that is also able to wake me up with my own sounds/music, just like I do with the mobile phone. The clock cost me 139 euros, and it is too much if the alarm does not play mp3 files, because that was the reason I bought it.
I didn't want to rate the product because I haven't really tested the rest of functionalities, but it seems Amazon does not let me give "no stars" as a valid rating.
Anyway, as others have already pointed, I think it is kind of silly to have an alarm clock with mp3 player, and not to be able to play them with the alarm. I can see that other functions could have been removed and make this one available. I think it is an unfinished/incomplete product.
Or even better, Philips can make a simpler and cheaper product with that functionality, and remove many others that really don't fit in an alarm clock...
If someone knows a product with that property, I'll appreciate if you post the information in a comment.

I was not able to use it!
- The backlight is so strong that I couldn't use it in the bedroom.
- There's no battery, so the clock resets after a power failure, making it unreliable.
Unfortunately I'm still using my old alarm clock and I don't know what to do with this product! It really was a BAD purchase...
And there are some details that make the product even worse: it plays mp3 files, but you can't use them as the alarm sound! Who projected this device????

Personally, I love this thing. However, if you don't set the backlight to shut off at the right time then you will not be sleeping like you want to. It would be great if I could get this thing to wake me up to my favorite tunes like I thought it would have. All in all, this thing is an alarm clock with an enormous display compared to others that is very bright and colorful. It doubles as a picture frame/mp3 player. I do rather enjoy the variety of alarm noises. If you love gadgets and are looking to get rid of your crappy old clock/radio this is the one for you.

Just bought this item and wow, great clock and so easy to use. Love the
features such as USB and Sd card slot. Highly recommended to all.
