Wireless Instruments

New to GHWT is a redesigned, more responsive guitar controller, which features a touch-sensitive slide bar on the neck that allows the player to play through certain song passages without needing to strum. Check out the drum kit featuring three drum pads, two raised cymbals, and a bass kick pedal. The drum controller combines larger and quieter, velocity-sensitive drum heads with soft rubber construction to deliver authentic bounce back and is easy to set up, move, break down and store.

Be the Next Great Songwriter

Music Studio lets players express their musical creativity by giving them access to a full complement of tools to create digital music from scratch utilizing the guitar controller and drum kit. Players can create their tracks and then play them in-game or share the recordings with the entire Guitar Hero community through GHTunes. GHTunes allows other gamers from around the world to download and play the community's original tracks. Available to Xbox 360 gamers is Line 6's guitar tone technology, enabling them to use amps, cabs, and effects from the Line 6 POD.

Create the Band

Budding rock stars can live out their rock ?n? roll fantasies by playing either a single instrument or any combination of instruments, in addition to the full band experience. When rocking as part of a band, up to four players can jam together in quickplay or as they progress through a career. Both band and single-player careers feature non-linear progression giving artists the option to change difficulty and instruments with a variety of different gigs available at any time.

Never Jam Solo Again

Virtual musicians in need of band mates can take their careers online forming worldwide ensembles so no rock star ever has to play a gig solo. Plus, GHWT adds a "Battle of the Bands" modes, which allows eight players to join online and challenge each other band-to-band to establish global supremacy.

Customize Everything

The character creator allows gamers to create a rock star with style as unique as their own. Absolute customization from the clothes, to the facial and body structure, to the tattoos and accessories, players are encouraged to unleash their inner rock legend. The Rock Star Creator doesn't just allow players to build the ultimate rock god; the in-depth creators include the ability to customize guitars, drums and microphones. Adding yet another layer of personalization, gamers can create custom logos for their instruments, band, or album covers.

A Set List for the Ages

The Guitar Hero World Tour set list is comprised entirely of master recordings from some of the greatest artists of all-time including Van Halen, Linkin Park, The Eagles, and Sublime. There are over 85 tracks, plus frequent downloadable singles and track packs. I'm a fan of guitar hero and when I read all these bad reviews I was a bit hesitant to buy it but I was wrong. This game is awsome. I'm a Guitar Hero fan if you rockband fan don't dis Guitar Hero.

1 out of 5 stars If you have played Rock Band - you will hate GH:WT   November 7, 2008

I can't believe Neversoft couldn't come up with something better than this. I guess they saved all their money for Heidi Klum and Kobe for advertising. Character customization? Who cares. There are a lot of good songs, if you only want to play guitar. however there are a LOT more crappy songs then you'd find on Rock Band. If you have played Rock Band you will hate the band interface, have no idea how to use band star power and will have very little choice in what set lists you play. The star/streak meter and band info is WAAAAY up in the far corner which is nearly impossible to see without looking away from your fret! FORGET about good online play - that interface STINKS! You can't see what the band leader is doing.... which is PICKING THE NEXT SETLIST! This game is a LOUSY version of Rock Band. SAVE YOUR MONEY - if you have Rock Band already, go rent it - you'll thank me for it.

1 out of 5 stars RedOctane is very dissapointing   November 5, 2008
1 out of 3 found this review helpful

I am a big guitar hero fan, so much so that I am willing to forgive a lot of things because I usually have a lot of fun with them so it is worth the bugs. This time, I am pretty dissapointed at RedOctane's customer service. Like most, one of my cymbals didn't work right out of the box, and I definitely have sensitive issues on some of the other drums. SO, I have to put in a return request, wait 3 days for an email, return the cymbal with insurance and tracking at MY cost, then wait 3 weeks for them to either fix it or return it. Meanwhile, my family can't play the game that we spend $240 on. For the sensitivity issue, I have to wait for them to send me a MIDI cable, move my Xbox and TV so that my computer can reach them, and then tune the drums.
I would return the entire product and buy Rock Band, but you cannot return an open item for a refund, even if it was broken. Only for another product and even then you have to pay your own shipping and a 15% restocking fee.
I will never buy another RedOctane product again. They lost a loyal customer.

3 out of 5 stars Fun for a couple songs   November 5, 2008
2 out of 3 found this review helpful

This past weekend i played guitar hero world touur for twelve hours. i also own rock band 2 and have been playing that since the day it came out. As i usually play rock band on a 50 inch plasma and i had to play world tour on a 34 inch rounded screen old school tv it was a little bit harder to read the notes. but here is my review none the less

Vocals: vocals seem way easier to sing then rock band. the microphone seems to read the pitch better and is more sensitive. the only downside about this is that i don't know the words to most of the songs so it makes it hard to sing it.

Guitar: I love the new guitar. it looks great and feels great. it is very responsive and just the right weight to flip it over your shoulder while having a short break in the guitar. the slide feature seems fun to play but while playing on expert it is very hard to find the right fingering and then to get your fingers back up to frets but i'm sure after playing more i will be able to do it fine.

Drums: i'm a drummer and all i do is play the drums until i'm tired of sitting down. the first time i played the drums it felt great besides the foot pedal. the foot pedal is way to close to the ground. it also doesn't really have much of a spring back and is made of flexible plastic. the purple note was also hard to see on the tv screen to play it. as i continued to play the drums, i would continually hit in between the pads. since the spacing is different from the rock band drums i would go for where i thought the drum was, but it wasn't. This would be fine except for the fact that when hitting the plastic it would make a incredibly loud crack everytime you hit it. another thing about the drums was the cymbals are to close to the pads. my stick would get stuck under the cymbal when i was playing the red and fly out of my hand. and finally the blue drum hardly worked at all. if they fix the blue drum and had a better foot pedal i could tolerate playing it.

Set List: A lot of songs available for GHWT are the same as rock band 2. other then these songs there are about seven songs that i enjoy playing. i would totally recomend the rock band set list over the guitar hero one. while playing the set list i would start to fall asleep playing some songs because i didn't know them. some songs are way to long to enjoy playing. and i don't know why there are so many spanish songs in it. i haven't tried making any songs yet, but from the ones that i downloaded they remind me of old ringtones. it doesn't sound like a real song, but something that comes out of a cell phone. As i said before i wouuld recomend the rock band setlist over the GHWT one. there are about seven songs i like to play on GHWT, there are about seven songs i don't like to play out of my 160 rock band songs.

Overall: overall i would recomend this song for the guitar hero lovers, but i would recomend only getting the guitar pack and get the rock band drums which are far superior. maybe some amazing downloadable content would raise my opinion of the setlist, but so far guitar hero hasn't impressed me with their downloadable capabilities.

5 out of 5 stars Great game and worthy competitor for Rock Band 2   November 3, 2008
3 out of 4 found this review helpful

The look and feel of GH:World Tour is very similar to previous installations of the Guitar Hero series. The guitar game play retains the traditional Guitar Hero feel. The drum set is great, at least mine is, and the game play is excellent. The vocal game play is solid as well. A number of individuals have criticized the graphics, compared to Rock Band 2, but to me it seems that GHWT continues the charm of the original GH series. Moreover, the character creation feature is far superior to its competitor.

So what really makes GHWT a worthy addition to the full band "rock band" genre? Aside from the quality game play and retention of GH series worthy guitar play, the new music studio is a fabulous and ground breaking addition. This feature allows players to create their own songs and play them in the game, as well as share them online with other players. A bit of a technical challenge and not exactly user friendly, the music studio is truly ground breaking. For those of you not interested in spending the time to create your own songs, guess what? You don't have to! The real value and up side of this feature is that others around the world will and they will post them online for you to preview and download if you are so inclined. This game has only been out a few days and there already some interesting and quality GH-Tunes downloads available. I would not be surprised if one or many of the user created songs for GHWT eventually end up being recorded by "real" musicians and released for sale.
