This is a pack of three Grand Theft Auto titles for PlayStation. Grand Theft Auto places you in the role of a common street thug whose job is to carry out the will of ruthless crime bosses. Stealing cars and settling drug deals are just some of your dirty tasks as you run, gun, steal, and drive through three different crime-infested cities. Fail and you get cussed out by your superiors. Succeed and you rise through the ranks of the organization, get more respect, and tackle tougher missions. In Grand Theft Auto: London Mission Pack, if you want to stay legal, you'll want to stay on the left side of the road. You'll also be entering and exiting vehicles on the right side of the car. All the speech has been replaced with the slang and accents you'd expect to find in London around 1969. The music has also been completely revamped, and it fits the scenario nicely. The graphics are mostly new as well, providing new textures for buildings (it seems there were a lot of pubs in London back then) and new cars, including an Austin Powers-esque ride, complete with accompanying secret-spy music. Grand Theft Auto 2 is, for the most part, a collection of enhancements to the original game. The graphics have been redone, the music is different, there is a slew of new weapons, the mission structure is a bit more complex, and the city feels more alive. There are three levels in GTA2. Each level is divided into three areas of turf, controlled by a different gang. The gangs range from the ever unpopular megacorporation, Zaibatsu, to the dirt-road mobile-home-owning Rednecks.

Very Cool November 8, 2004
These are the games that started it all. Grand Theft Auto revolutionized gameplay forever, with it's open ended and free roaming atmosphere. Sure, the graphics weren't perfect, ever, but the game that let you be a criminal started a whole line of GTA games and some crappy imitations. London 1969 continued in London. Sort of annoying that you have to put in your GTA disk every time you wanna play London, but it was fun and alot easier than the first game. GTA 2 was the first one that actually told you how much health you had left and let you do missions for 7 seperate gangs in three seperate districts of a large city. Doing missions for a game would definately raise your respect for one gang, but lower it for another. A very good game. The one thing that really stands out about these games was the radios. The radio was always funny and never boring to listen to. GTA and GTA 2 are very hard games, so if you're prepared to be a little frustrated than get this, if not than leave it alone.

You know it's funny I read some of your guy's reviews complaining about graphics, while reviews from 1999 praise them. Weird. I first played GTA in June 2001. True, the overhead feature gives me a headache, but the concept of the game is what sold it. The important thing to understand is how GTA has evolved. With the upcoming release of San Andreas (Got my Presell on the first day) it will for one be those most innovative and compelling of the GTA series, and second will be another member of the family to the GTA expierence. What has also been great to the PS2 gta's is not only are they trying push the limits of the PS2 in making best GTA after the next, but they played homage to the first three games, and Sam Houser has not forgotten it's past. They play respect in several little instances:
1) gta3 still kept the top view as an option
2) Vice City, San Andreas, and Liberty City were the cities in GTA1
3) The icecream truck jeengly is the same from GTA2
4) You hear terms and names like Zaibatsu, Head Radio, and El Burro
5) there are 2 screenshots from GTA 1&2 inserted into computerscreens in GTA 3
6) They brought back the GTA theme song for GTA 3
Its all about respect. Honestly by todays standards, these first games are not totally mind blowing, but they are still fun and cool to have.

It was fun when it came out. Today, it is not. GTA 3 and VC is much easier. First off, there is an overhead view, this makes driving diffucul. second, the graphics are low res, great in '99. Finally, there is now real blood or heads that you can slice off like GTA 3. the only reason you should buy these games is if you want to see how it all began.

the gta series rocks.i have played them all,and i think everyone out there should try them out.go rent all the games first.then,if you like them,come back here and buy them.all three games,grand theft auto,gta london,and gta 2 are all very good.big ups to amazon and rockstar games!(you gotta play gta 3 and vice city,too!!!)

These game are historical. You can clearly see where GTA3 evolved from. The original GTA is worth a look for historical purposes only. GTA: London '69 is entertaining until you get a headache from the painfully low-res graphics. GTA2 is one of the best games for PS1. If you want a video game museum, this should be your top exhibit. If you want a GTA game for your PS1, just buy GTA2 alone. If you have a PS2, skip this collection and buy your GTA3 and/or GTA: Vice City now!
