2 out of 5 stars What Am I Shooting At?   April 27, 2008
I picked this game up in the $10 bin at a local store. I have since sold it on Ebay. Having said that, it is worth that price and nothing more. I enjoyed the hunts and strategy of the game. The graphics, however, were horrible, and it is almost impossible to tell what you are shooting at. Tracking is just about useless, and you are penalized if you shoot a species or gender that you do not have tags for. Overall this game could have been so much better. I expect more out of future Cabela installments.

4 out of 5 stars Long, Challenging, and Fun   April 14, 2008
Granted, some of this game was pretty challenging but I think that is a good thing. Many other Cabela's games were short and easy. This one has 50 levels with a variety of fishing, hunting, and fowl shooting. Overall, I think this is one of the better Cabela's games I have played. There are a lot of animals as opposed to many other Cabela's games where you had to spend all day finding the animal you needed to hunt. Additionally, there are some missions where you have to find a lost ranger/hunter and when you find him he will give you a better weapon. That is another plus for the game. There are a variety of weapons including bow and arrows, shotguns, rifles, pistols, and, my favorite, the magnum. The graphics in the game are pretty decent and each board is huge. Not all the boards are snow boards either. A couple actually are set on top of a mountain where you have to hunt elks and deer. Of course, the biggest complaint is the stamina system. You can barely run five feet before you get tired. However, you can level up and make yourself stronger. The fishing is rather simple and the bird hunting as well but all in all it is a versitile game that should keep your interest. I wonder how good it would be if they put boss battles in it....I would give this game a chance and worse come to worse it will be a rare game one day and will be worth some money....most Cabela's games are.

3 out of 5 stars Enjoyable for fans of the genre   October 26, 2007

Better game than I expected. Graphics aren't too great, but what do you expect? This game could have Bioshock graphics and still wouldn't get any sales. Low popularity = Low sales = Low budget = Poor graphics. That's like saying a bowling game should have good visuals. Gamers that are hunting fans will like this game. Your average gamer probably will not. I'm not even a hunter, but when it comes to shooting animals in a game, count me in!

3 out of 5 stars Frustrating...   February 5, 2007

Having played Cabelas Dangerous Hunts for PS2, I looked forward to playing this game. However, I was immediately disappointed with the navigation of the menus and how complicated it was just to get ready for a hunt. When I finally could hunt, I was surprised to find out the animals weren't any more realistic, in fact if anything they were more unrealistic with the musk ox flitting around like a cartoon character and foxes running right past you. Also, if you think this game wouldn't be as dangerous, think again. It seems almost all the animals attack you including the grizzly bear, if you want to "hunt" one you might get one by stalking, but usually it's from them charging you or walking up to them then shooting it as it charges you. This game has also caused my console to freeze numerous times, probably from the cheap graphics. Even with all the negatives I would recommend this game if you enjoy hunting games because there are a lot of good hunts and also some extra hunts and fishing.

Unlike Cabela's African Safari this game is much more realistic. I would not recommend this game if you don't have the patience to hide and stalk your prey.
