5 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Great Game for Low Price   April 9, 2008

First off, I should have known that this game would be awesome because the develpers are Ubisoft, the same guys who brought us Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, and Assassin's Creed...

The only complaint I have is the fact that there isn't much customization in the way of the human rider but honestly it is a minor flaw as the customization comes in the way of the horses.

One of the coolest things about this particular game is that you can breed the horses and raise new foals to compete in the local or international championships...

I am absolutely blown away by the way you control the horse. For example there are three different gaits and you determine the gait by how slow or fast you move the Wii controller. *you hold it in your hands and move it the way you would hold the reins as if actually horseback riding*...

I mean there is so much to do *that I haven't mentioned* and I haven't even scratched the surface yet.

Currently I've just bred my first foal, *a pretty black mare Fresian that I've named Raven* about to enter my first local championship and hopefully soon I will get my coveted white horse :-)

They really should have charged more for this great game but if you want a nice horse game with great controls and pretty graphics this is a must buy.

5 out of 5 stars My daughter thinks its cool   April 7, 2008

This was a gift for my 8 year old daughter. It's not too easy, but not so hard that she gives up. Some parts were a little confusing and it may be difficult for some because there is a lot of reading between scenes and game events. I play with her, and I think that it's pretty good. It's not high end graphics or anything, we liked it anyway. Over all my daughter loves this game and she says,"it's cool!" Great gift for a little horse lover.

1 out of 5 stars Would not buy again   March 24, 2008

We had bought this because our 7 year old loves Nintendogs and thought this would make a great addition. Boy, were we ever wrong. After almost 12 hours of non-stop "playing" on Easter Sunday and one 7 year old girl ready to cry, we are done with this game. It is not possible to keep the darn foal healthy. Both of us parents and our daughter have "worked to earn money" in the game but it is just not enough to buy all the stuff the foal needs. Or at least you can't earn it fast enough. We might try starting a new game tomorrow and see if it's possible NOT to visit grandpa to pick up the foal. Just work with the horse because that's a lot easier. As of right now I would recommend not to buy this game.

3 out of 5 stars Would have made it differently..   March 3, 2008

I bought this game as a 6th birthday gift for my daughter, and she likes playing it because she loves animals, but since she is not a strong reader yet I have to read the subtitles to her.. She is not able to play on her own.

Some of the scenes have picture directions and characters who speak. It would have been easy to make the game playable for younger children. I did not think that the description of the game on the box was accurate. The game runs you through a story, but you cannot raise horses???

My older daughter,15, who reads well does not like the preset story line.

Would be a good game for a young reader - maybe second grade and up?

4 out of 5 stars Good Horse game but...   November 19, 2007

I'm enjoying this game but its almost exactly the same as Saddle Up With Pippa Funnell, which is also from UbiSoft. They repackaged it to work on the WII system and added a beach area and changed the plot a little. It IS a good game but I already own Saddle Up with Pippa Funnell. I probably wouldn't have bought this if I had known it was practically the same game.

I really wanted a simple pet horse simulation... without a preset plot to follow. Just a horse that you have to raise and train and keep happy and healthy. I'd like to be able to feed my horse apples occasionally and maybe race with my friends, or be able to choose equestrian activities or choose not to do them.

The game looks lovely and the WII controls are a nice fit to this game. Once I solve the plot, maybe I'll have the simple horse sim that I originally wanted. Maybe there will be some way to let me feed my horse apples. :D
