Product Description
In Resident Evil 4 you'll know a new type of horror, as the classic survival-horror action returns with all-new characters, controls and storylines. We last saw Leon S. Kennedy in Resident Evil 2 - a rookie cop in Raccoon City, fighting to stay alive. That was six years ago. Since then, government forces have managed to control the zombie threat and Leon has become a Federal agent. When the President's daughter is kidnapped, Leon tracks her to a remote, hidden fortress in Europe - where he'll relive the horror he faced six years before. Players will face never-before-seen enemies that make Nemesis seem like a kitten. You'll be wishing for the usual Resident Evil zombies!

2 out of 5 stars Not zapper compatible   December 4, 2008

This game was excellent when it originally came out on the Gamecube. I loved it. It is still very good on the Wii.

My problem is this; Why re-release a game, soley because of the Wii's wireless aiming capabilities (well not solely, I'm sure it was the money too), and then completely ignor the fact that the WiiMote has a trigger on the bottom of it. This game could be so much better, if the option for changing your controls existed, or if the re-designers just used some common sense (duh, pull trigger to shoot, not pull trigger to aim). Had they just done that, the game would be worth playing again.

If you've already played it on the GC, it isn't worth another go. Nothing was changed for the better.

If you haven't played it, I'd suggest it, but I'd get the GC version, or just connect a classic controller to your WiiMote to play it with some original controls.

5 out of 5 stars A Great Game   December 3, 2008

A very great game I would recommend anyone to get this game. One of the best games you can play on wii if not the best I have played. You can't go wrong with this game

5 out of 5 stars Awesome game even several years later   December 3, 2008

I just grabbed this for rental in a video store, having never played Resident Evil before. I had also never played a shooter on my new Wii. Wow, what a great find. Now I worry I've been spoiled!

The graphics are top-notch. Lots of depth, no NPCs suddenly appearing in the distance. The running and action animations are very smooth. The sound is great, both the music and the sound cues around you. The plot is a little convoluted, and some of the voice acting and cut-scene animations are unintentionally funny (characters surrounded by dismembered mutant/zombies who have been injected with alien eggs talk in normal voices like they are sitting at Starbucks having a coffee). But who cares, right? The point is to blast your way through any obstacle to accomplish your goal!

I loved the way the Wii controls mesh with this game. Sure, there are a couple of spots where the designers screw with you, launching an ambush that gives you one second to shake the remote or press A & B, and then you die. But they have the good manners to only do that right after an automatic save point (going through a door), so you just reload and position your hands correctly. Otherwise, I love the intuitive way you aim the guns. Where you hit the targets has a big effect. After a while, you WANT to hit targets in the legs, not the chest or head, but I won't ruin the surprise with why. Other times, you want to hit them in the arm so they spin and fall off a wall or whatever. The sniper rifle really bobs and weaves when you are trying to aim - annoying, but realistic. And if that doesn't give you a bit of an adrenaline boost when you are trying to kill an Iron Maiden in a tight hallway, nothing will!

The variety of weapons and their upgrades leads to a nice bit of choosing how you want to play the game; you want be able to have everything and upgrade everything. There are lots of little extras that require some exploration, but aren't needed. A few puzzles, pretty simple after a few minutes. More puzzling is how to deal with certain creatures, because they are trying to kill you while you experiment!

Finishing the game in Normal mode leads to unlocking a whole bunch of extras. The most interesting was Ada's missions, which I am not sure were in the non-Wii versions. It's like replaying the main game, but from a different person's point of view who was in the shadows. Neat concept. There are some extra missions, dealing with various villains, and you can unlock some extra weapons with shooting galleries which are challenging to say the least (for shotgun or sniper rifle).

Finally, this is an adult game, all the way. Lots of blood, gore, dismemberment, slimy mutant animals, aliens, cruelty, etc. No nudity or sex, alas! But this will definitely give a few weeks or more of heart-pounding fun!

5 out of 5 stars Thoroughly Entertaining   November 25, 2008
Wow! My Fiancee can't stop playing this game. Graphics are great, game is ADDICTING, truly a terrifying and awesome experience. Only gripe is that you can accidentally shoot Ashley (the person you are trying to save) and that it's just a one player game. I would say this is much more difficult than the Umbrella Chronicles (2 player co-op) which he and I have enjoyed playing together. Not for the squeamish or faint of heart. Great, challenging game that will keep you busy for awhile!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Great game for the Wii   November 20, 2008
One of the best games I've ever played. The storyline and the controls for this game are great. Very enjoyable to play. I would recommend to anyone who can take violence in a video game.
