Toontown: The best game in the tooniverse August 3, 2008 When i started trying out toontown a long time ago,(When i still had my horrible laptop) This game would freeze in every 5 minutes, and every time it freezed, i had to restart my computer, and that left my poor laptop in a horrible state. I tried it on my desktop(I gotta say that was pretty old too) The game was too slow and the graphics were extremely bad. But later i got a brand new computer, and when i tried toontown on it, it worked amazingly well. I do not suggest this for people who have dial-up or an old or slow computer. However, the game is amazingly fun and i LOVE it. I am already 108 laff and i am hooked. I do not reccomend you get this CD, i suggest you just go online and download and purchase it for $10,00 a month. That sounds like a ripoff, but it is totally worth it. My [...]-year-old sister, that is going to college already, plays this game and thought it was cute. I recommend toontown for everyone, of all ages. The reason i gave it a 4 star is because toontown doesn't work on many computers, but if it did, i would definitely give this a big 5
HOLD ON BEFORE YOU BUY July 28, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
first, you can play the free version directly online, if you want to upgrade to the re occurring memebrship, you can do it right at the website, why would any one need to buy the cd rom other than i think it gives you 2 months of play. it sells at walmart for about 9.00 and people are selling this game from 70.00 to over a hundred dollars???????? what the heck is going on? my son has played free for 2 months and there is plenty to do for free that he loves it and begs to be on it, your limited to buying certain things with the jellybeans you collect but there is still fun to be had!! they have an introductry 4.95 first month price special as of july 08
Not for Dial-up internet May 10, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
My mom got me this for my birthday 2 years ago because I had played it at a friend's house and loved it. I had Dial-up internet then (now I have high-speed, hooray!). Well I entered the code, set up my account and tried playing. All it did was give me a white screen. I tried again. Another white screen. I repeated the process for half an hour or so and every time it gave me a white screen. I sent 3 e-mails to tech support and I don't think they answered any of them. That's $[...] dollars down the drain. A review of Toontown itself: As I have said before, I have played this at my friend's house because she has a subscription. It gets old after a while. Run around, fight cogs, run some more, fight more cogs, play some lame mini-games, fight some cogs, that's about it. Another really frustrating thing about this game is that almost everytime you are fighting a cog with somebody, they will abandon you. If you call your pet thing (or whatever the heck it's called) it will abandon you to, so don't count on that. And the so call "sophisticated" word filter, is not very effective. My friend and I experimented with that by saying words like stupid, dumb, crap, and many others and I think all of them got through (we didn't do really bad ones though). If you want a creative way to waste money and bore yourself to death, buy this game, if not, don't bother.
Fun for the whole family January 16, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
With all this game has to offer, the monthly price of $10.00 is certainly worth it. However, you do have the option for the yearly subscription for around 80.00 which is just over $6.50 a month. I bought the yearly subscription for both my grandsons (different households) and the enjoyment they get out of playing makes the cost way way worth it. My grandsons also received a promotional gift (very nice quality toontown baseball cap) and are receiving monthly newletters that include trading cards. (They really look forward to their Toontown mail.) If you only played during the free trail period, you don't really know how much this game has to offer. The game reaches levels you can't even fathom when first signing up. Our whole family plays...the kids...their moms...and their nana. My toon is NANA BEAR, if you decide to play, I hope to see you there. NANA BEAR
Great MMO for kids January 9, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
this game is a lot of fun, and will keep the kids occupied for a few weeks, but it starts to get VERY VERY repetitive, and they lose interest. I like the chat systems, Disney gets kudos for that, it's a very safe environment for kids. But like I said...it gets repetitive.
