You can then choose from a list of powerful upgrades that will give elite units even more strength to dominate in war. Your Army will wear a distinct uniform representing your Civilization, so you will easily see them on the screen as you lead them into battle.

4 out of 5 stars Civilization Revolution- GREAT!   December 1, 2008
I bought this game about a month and a half ago and I was pretty sure I would like it, but I wasn't positive. I had read all the reviews and I was pretty convinced that it was worth $30. Now I am sure.

Pros:
1. There are 16 (i think) different civilizations you can select from. Egyptians, Greeks, Arabs, and Aztecs to French, English, American, and Chinese.

2. Each civ. has its own leader (i.e. Lincoln- Americans, Cleopatra- Egyptians, Montezuma- Aztecs, Catherine- Russians)

3. There are four different ways to win the game- Technological, Economic, Domination, and Cultural
Technological- Be the first to reach Alpha Centauri
Economic- pass all 8 economic checkpoints- 100 gold, 200 gold, 500 gold, 1000 gold, 2000 gold, 5000 gold, 10000 gold, and 20000 gold.
Domination- Capture each enemy's capital.
Cultural- Get 20 Great people or Wonders

4. The "Great People" are real great people such as 'David', Albert Einstein, and Thomas Edison.

5. The Civs, Leaders, cities, technologies, and great people are historically correct in time and cultures.

Cons:

1. The only things you can say to the enemy are:
Accept Peace, Decline Peace, Agree with their threats, or disagree with their threats and choose not to co-operate; because the enemy can demand technologies or money and you can't.

4 out of 5 stars Civ on the DS   November 18, 2008

This is the first and, to date, only game I have for the DS. I like it a lot. It's a scaled-down version of the console game, although it's mainly due to graphics. The actual gameplay seems to be fairly similar, although I've spent far less time on this than I have on the PS3 version. If you're a Civ addict, you'll want to pick this up. It's the only portable version (at least that I'm aware of - no PSP version yet), and it makes good use of the two screens on the DS.

4 out of 5 stars Great Game for civilization Fans   October 11, 2008

As a huge Civilization Fan, I was thrilled to see that it was coming out for the DS. Since receiving it, I have already spent many hours playing this game over and over again. Although it is not as elaborate as CIV IV, it makes good use of the DS and the dual screens.

It really reminded me of the original Civilization from back in the 80's, but of course with much better graphics.

The easier settings are sufficiently easy for the novice player and the harder settings are truly challenging.

I love this game.

1 out of 5 stars game fails due to time limits   September 29, 2008

Don't buy this game.
I was having fun playing it BUT the biggest mistake the programmers made with CivRev is that they cut you short when the AI assumes you will dominate eventually. I've played this ten times so far and each game was really frustrating when the "game ends in 5 moves" message pops up before you are ready for a victory!! THEY NEED TO FIX THIS SO THAT PLAYERS CAN END THE GAME WHENEVER THEY WANT TO!!!!!!!

Think of it this way; you spend alot of time surrounding a city and then the game ends before you can destroy it! Rats!!!

Don't buy this unless they fix it.

4 out of 5 stars Very playable on the small screen   September 23, 2008

This game is remarkably playable on the tiny DS screens. I'm a Civ junkie and love this game. It's not quite as addictive as the full versions, but still quite engaging and entertaining. I expected it to have fewer features and be less complex than the computer versions of Civ. Happily it's not as watered down as I had expected!
