4 out of 5 stars Best Short Movie on the L&C trip available   November 16, 2008
I first saw this in a Omni-Vision Theatre and now owning it on DVD am no less impressed. It is a GREAT portrayal of their journey west. As a student of history and citizen living and working daily along a portion of the Lewis & Clark route, I recall scenes from this film in my mind and of all the various documentaries and feature films available over the years, most of which I have viewed, this docudrama is of the highest quality and quickest pace. I share mine with anyone interested at all, and they come away with a much better knowledge of what took place. And, like I said, it is not exceedingly long like many pieces on the subject, and is fast paced, so holds the attention.

5 out of 5 stars National Geographic-Lewis & Clark- Great Journey West-DVD   May 2, 2008
This dvd was great. It was fact based with realy people and animals playing the parts. The special effects were excelent. The sound was terrific. It also gave background on the team members.

5 out of 5 stars Very Good Depiction of Lewis and Clark   March 11, 2008
This video does a very nice job or delivering the Lewis and Clark experience. Nicely depicts the special boat built for them. Has some nice scences of adventure and depicts the soldiers in everyday life.

I teach High School history and highly recommend this video for viewing in class.

The Special Edition DVD that I ordered has not yet arrived but I already have the standard edition DVD and the only difference is that the Special Edition has an extra disc with a Windows Media High Definition version of the film for use on computers with HD capability.

The film of the journey is well constructed and filmed with good quality lenses and equipment so that even the DVD version has good detail and colour. The narration is by Jeff Bridges and is clear and concise. As a British viewer, I found it interesting historically because it records a journey that took place while much of the North American interior was unmapped but claimed by Britain and some other countries.

5 out of 5 stars Very Enjoyable experience.   December 3, 2007
I watched the DVD from National Geographic with pleasure. The story of the Lewis and Clark journey is a classic and the video presentation was typically great from the Nat. Geo. people.
I highly recommend this concise but well done DVD.
