5 out of 5 stars GREAT!!   August 18, 2008
This is perfect for what we needed it for. My son decided to get some Gamecube games for his Wii. It does what it needs to and the price is right.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Quality and Overall Value   July 10, 2008

I used to own a GameCube with original OEM controllers, so I know how they perform. I recently picked up a Wii and bought this controller starter kit so that I could play GameCube games once again. I was a little apprehensive because of the price (seemed low for everything you get), but was extremely pleased to find that the feel and performance of the controller was completely like that of the OEM version! Realistic vibration, heavy-duty look and feel. And the extension cable that comes with this package is a very nice addition. My system is probably 10 or 12 feet from the couch, so the extension cord allows me to keep the Wii where it is while I play from my couch. No need to sit on the floor. The memory card works just fine as well (4MB = approx 59 blocks).

Overall, if you're looking for a controller that looks and plays like the original Nintendo GameCube controllers but you're not looking to pay the price then this is the perfect alternative. You can't beat the price for all that you get. Highly recommended!

2 out of 5 stars Okay at first, but it's starting to break   July 1, 2008

First the good:
The controller feels great in my largish hands, and the buttons feel fine, although a little loose. The controller works well. The memory card works great, no issues with it.

The BAD:
The 6' extension wire was bad out of the box. Using it with this controller, or another controller I have, causes the character to constantly run to the right and down. Taking off the cable fixes the problem. I had to throw the cable away. Fortunately I didn't really need it.
The controller itself worked great out of the box, but after playing most of the way through Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door (maybe 50 hours of game time total?) the A button is starting to get stuck in the down position. This makes it really hard to play any game that requires precise timing (which pretty much includes all Gamecube and Wii games). If I don't press the A button too hard, it seems to do okay, but sometimes when I click it really fast it stays jammed down and can't sense my clicks.

I was originally going to give this 4 stars (due to the bad cable) but the stuck button after so short a time forces me to downgrade this a lot. If I could do it again, I think I'd just get a Nintendo-brand controller and third-party memory card, even if it cost twice as much. It'd have been better than dealing with this one.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome controller   June 1, 2008

I bought this little package to go along with my Wii and it was so good that I ended up coming back to buy another one. The extension cord is incredibly long, it reaches almost the entire length of my living room! The memory card is rather useless for the newer gamecube games, but perhaps those of you with older games may get some use out of it. The controller itself is 1000 times better than the MadCatz ones, and it fits in your hands just like the original GC one is supposed to...awesome price too!
