Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
When used with specially designed games, the Nintendo GameCube Broadband Adapter can enable either online play (through an existing broadband connection such as DSL or cable), or play over a Local Area Network (LAN).Games must be programmed to use these features, and will indicate so on the game's packaging with a Broadband Adapter icon. The Nintendo GameCube Broadband Adapter does not allow you to "surf" the Internet, and is only used for a connection to play games online or over a LAN.

Hey, If you ever had a gamecube game such as Phantasy Star Online, or some other gamecube game with internet play, the Gamecube Broadband Adapter is the best way to go. After I got mine, just plugged it into the router and everything was working fine.

4 out of 5 stars Does what it's suppposed to do...   April 26, 2008
As long as you buy the Gamecube Broadband Adapter knowing what you're getting, it's worth the price of admission. Basically though, aside from Mario Kart Double Dash in LAN mode and Phantasy Star Online (which is only playable now on private servers), you can't do very much with it. There is a program called Warpipe that allows you to play some other games online, but since that requires a PC outside of your Gamecube, that's not something most people will ever use it for. As it is, it does what it's supposed to do, and when it comes to hardware, you can't ask for much more than that.

The Gamecube Broadband Adaptor is simply an attachment for the GCN to hook up to a network/internet connection to allow multiplayer games to connect to the internet. It's extremely easy to connect to your GCN, easy to find the port to connect LAN cable, and then it's just a matter of playing your game and knowing how to connect abroad.

This adaptor is also able to be used in order to stream ISOs from your PC to be read from your GCN. It takes more than just the adaptor and a GCN, but this is what actually enables the network connectivity needed.

5 out of 5 stars No need to get this anymore...   March 2, 2007

The only reason people used to get this was for Phantasy Star Online but the server went down. There was also a private server for a while where you didn't have to do the whole monthly fee thing and you could play with people on pc but. Nobody plays on gamecube on that server anymore because Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst is compatible on that private server now. [...].
