Xbox 360 is much smaller than its predecessor--it measures approximately 3.3 by 12.2 by 10.2 inches and weighs 7.7 lbs. It's powered by custom IBM PowerPC-based CPU with three symmetrical cores each running at 3.2 GHz. It also carries a custom ATI graphics processor loaded with 10 MB of embedded DRAM, 48-way parallel floating-point dynamically scheduled shader pipelines and Unified shader architecture. This is powerful enough to draw 500 million triangles per second. In other words, it makes for great looking games in standard TV definition, and even better thanks to built-in support for HDTV 1080i televisions. It also supports the widescreen 16:9 format. The unit has a 12x dual-layer DVD-ROM drive, which plays both the game media and progressive-scan DVD movies right out of the box. For game-save and media storage, users can choose between the detachable and upgradeable 20GB hard drive, or a separately sold 64MB flash Memory Unit. Xbox 360 uses a refined button layout for its controllers. Back and Start buttons sit at the center of the controller and between them is a new Xbox Guide button, which instantly takes the user to the Xbox 360 user interface. The black and white buttons of the first Xbox controllers have been replaced with new shoulder buttons placed above the left and right triggers. The x-box 360 works great and they mail overseas which is nice for us troops.
 DO NOT BUY USED! RED RING OF DEATH! November 21, 2008
I LOVE THE CONSOLE OR SHOULD I SAY THE GAMES THAT ARE REALEASED FOR THIS CONSOLE, HOWEVER, THE HARDWARE AND CUSTOMER SUPPORT ARE TOTALLY HORRIBLE... ONCE UPON A TIME I WAS AN EXCLUSIVE SONY FANBOY, EVER SINCE A LITTLE GAME CALLED FINAL FANTASY 7 WAS RELEASED. THEN FINALLY JUMPED OVER TO X-BOX WHEN THE MASTER CHIEF HAD HIS SECOND ADVENTURE. WHEN THE 360 WAS RELEASED I PURCHASED IT AND SOLD IT WITHIN A WEEK BECAUSE AT THE TIME A $400 HUNDRED DOLLAR UPGRADE THAT ONLY MADE GAMES LOOK MORE SHINY (G.R.A.W AND FULL AUTO) WAS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. THAT WAS UNTIL I PLAYED GEARS OF WAR LATE LAST SUMMER OF '07. I IMMEDIATLY PURCHASED ANOTHER CONSOLE AND IN FACT ALSO BOUGHT A 52" DLP T.V JUST TO PLAY IT LIKE IT WAS MEANT TO BE PLAYED. AND LIFE WAS GOOD... UNTIL 4 MONTHS DOWN THE ROAD, I JUST GOT HALO 3 AND BAM! RED RING OF DEATH... I CROSSED MY FINGERS AND HOPED FOR THE BEST AS I CALLED MICROSOFT, OF COURSE THESE DAYS ALL CALL CENTERS ARE OUT SOURCED IN INDIA OR SOMEWHERE. THEY ACTUALLY MANAGED TO HELP ME OUT, THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP SAID THAT MY WARRANTY WILL BE EXTENDED FOR ANOTHER 3 YEARS AND THAT THEY WERE GOING TO SEND ME A BOX TO SHIP MY "BOX" IN. SENT MY "BOX" OFF, RECIEVED ANOTHER ONE NO FUSS AND LIFE WAS GOOD. LIFE HAS BEEN REALLY REALLY GOOD WITH GAMES LIKE MASS EFFECT, ASSAIN'S CREED, COD 4, BIOSHCOK, AND RECENTLY GEARS OF WAR 2 AND FALLOUT 3, JUST TO NAME A FEW! UNTIL YESTERDAY, I JUST FINISHED DOWNLOADING THE NEW XBOX INTERFACE THING WHEN SUDDENLY BAM!? RED RING OF DEATH, AGAIN!? IT WAS LIKE BEING IN A VERY GOOD RELATIONSHIP AND FOUND OUT YOU WERE GETTING CHEATED ON NOT ONCE BUT TWICE! I WANT TO SMASH THE THING AT THIS POINT. SO I TRY NOT TO PANIC, CALLED INDIA AGAIN AND THIS TIME THE REP WAS VERY UNHELPFUL BECAUSE OF THE LANGUAGE BARRIER AND THE VAGUE FEELING OF UNEASE THAT THIS TIME THINGS WILL NOT TURN OUT LIKE THE LAST. THE REP TELLS ME THAT MY 'BOX IS REGISTERED UNDER SOMEONE ELSE'S NAME AND THAT MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED... BUT HE WAS STILL GOING TO PUT IN THE SERVICE REQUEST. HE GIVES ME THE SERVICE REQUEST NUMBER AND TELLS ME TO CALL BACK TOMORROW BECAUSE OF SOME TECHNICAL PROBLEMS THEY WERE HAVING IN THEIR SYSTEM (HOW IRONIC NOW THAT I THINK ABOUT IT). I WAS SO FRUSTRATED BY THE TIME I GOT OFF THE PHONE I WAS REALLY GOING TO SMASH MY 360 AND JUST BUY A PLAYSTATION AND BE DONE WITH IT... SO ANYONE CONSIDERING PURCHASING AN X-BOX 360 "USED" BE AWARE THAT THERE IS A VERY HIGH PROBABILITY OF THE RED RING OCCURENCE, AND THAT YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO GET IT REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY, THIS IS MY SECOND R.O.D AND BROTHER HAS HAD A COUPLE AS WELL.

I own both. The 360 is now a useless pile of junk in my basement.
It lasted 14 months...and during that time, I had to constantly turn
the sound down to listen if the fan was going....if it wasn't I had
to quickly turn it off and on before it froze up. Finally it died and
then the call to Microsoft...I won't even go into that. The PS3 is about
2 months old and runs flawlessly. You cannot hear the fan, unlike the
lawn blower that is the 360, and it never feels hot....the 360 can be
used as a space heater if your furnace dies.
Of course be logical...what is a software company doing producing hard
ware???? And Sony, well, they know how to make electronics....DO NOT
BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK. Yes, I am very upset with Microsoft on this product and have become a PS3 fan....but because the 360 is junk....this
is an honest review based on owning both, not a fan boy of the PS3...and
I do miss Forza, but after the rings of death, well that was the end of that anyway right? And I have at least four friends who have converted to PS3...do yourself a favor and don't buy this junk.

i wanna know if this xbox is working perfectly and its fine cuz in the description of the 74 more xbox consoles i saw that it said red ring of death-and if u dont lknow wat it means it mean its messed up and u need a new 1
