Awesome November 11, 2008 The story in this game is definitely the best out of all of the FF games. The scope, spectacle and score of the game speaks to the incredible imagination of the creators. It should be made into a movie! (motion picture not anime)It would be a great epic worthy of an academy award. Perhaps ten or so games stick out in my mind from the SNES that are worth having, this one is in the top five.
good but there are better remakes; the SNES version is for a certain kind of gamer October 22, 2008 As much as I love this game, it is no where near perfect. If you are a fan of SNES-era RPGs, I would consider this a must-play, and almost certainly a must-own. If you are simply a fan of RPGs or the Final Fantasy series, I would recommend either of the two Nintendo-console remakes--Final Fantasy IV Advance for the GBA Advance or Final Fantasy IV DS for the NDS. Both games have superior translations as well as the readdition of items and spells which were removed from the game when it ported from the Super Famicom to the SNES. Their graphical styles are different, however, as well as their "bonus content" and difficulty (the GBA game feels easier than even the SNES version--largely due to the extra content--while the NDS game is harder than both).
I heartily advise against the PSX version of the game, which has abominable load times and an unremarkable translation.
Final Fantasy II August 1, 2008 I love the game, it plays well. But you can't turn off the power because the cartridge does not save the game.
Final Fantasy 2 (America) April 1, 2008 Great Game, with an extraordinary storyline. Great for collectors of vintage video games and for gamers who like to play the oldies. Not too short and not too long a great addition to any gamers collection.
The second best Final Fantasy game. August 5, 2007 Next to Final Fantasy VI (FFIII) this is the best game in the franchise. Everything is perfect; gameplay, sound/music, graphics, and most of all it's story.
One thing I've notice with these games is that The best stories in Final Fantasy don't completely revolve around a love story, being overly emotional about someting, or a villian responsible for 3/4 of all the slash fanfiction on the internet. I'm looking at you Sephiroth. Buy this game at all costs along with FFVI, and FFXII, and bury FFVII in it's well deserved grave.
