It could've delivered...ahh Intec... June 7, 2005 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
When purchasing third-party products, be very careful. I've always been "iffy" about Intec because aesthetically, their accessories simply look "cheap" and rivals such as Pelican and MadCatz really do better in that area. Alright, let's move on to the controller.
It's pretty big, bigger than the Pelican G3 and Wavebird. Yes it does indeed vibrate (sorta) but should NOT be depended upon; if you play a game such as Mario Party, do not depend on the vibration function to work or barely at all. If you play a game such as Billy Hatcher, you'll feel "something" as you roll your egg(s) around. Sometimes the vibration can be good but most of the time it seems like it's barely there. Too bad, because the controller actually [does] feel nice but it suffers from something the Wavebird also does - it is affected by Spread Spectrum technology (however, the Wavebird has multiple channels to choose from and regardless what the Lazer is put on, it will instantly mess up, say, if a cordless phone with Spread Spectrum technolgy is ringing and further in use). After playing without vibration for a while, I do miss it, however, it's hard to give up a wireless controller once you walk on the other side; if you want a controller consider the Pelican G3 or Wavebird (both have excellent battery life, 1 of my 2 Pelican G3s have gone awry but it could be an isolated thing). If you can buy this for $20.00 or under, do so - but do not pay as much for this as you would pay for the less expensive Pelican. Too bad, when it works it's great...but since you may very likely have a cordless phone...ahh well...
And then there's the clencher...the design of the RF receiving unit - a piece of crap.
It's designed in such a way that the metal connector which would go into the GCN isn't positioned in the middle of the receiver, which makes sense, right? It's further to the right of the unit (right, if the front is facing you). What's this mean? You can only plug it in the 1st player port and NOT 2-4; the LEFT side will simply be so bulky that Wavebird or Pelican receivers will not be able to fit alongside the PURPLE Intec receiver...or even a second Intec receiver at that!
