Editorial Review The little yellow guy with a big appetite for dots is making a name for himself on the NEOGEO. This faithful pocket-sized reproduction of the early-'80s arcade classic offers instant gratification for those who want to gobble up some spare time. Unfortunately, the joystick on this portable unit doesn't respond extremely well on sharp turns, which can be the kiss of death when you're being chased by those pesky ghosts Pinky, Inky, Blinky, or Clyde. Play takes place in full-screen or scroll modes. Scroll mode poses more of a challenge as you can see only one corner of the board at all times, which can make it hard to avoid ghosts. It may not be as advanced as many other titles for the NEOGEO, but nothing beats the addictive arcade action of Pac-Man. If you are looking for a game to just pick up and play, snatch up this title. It's still as much fun as when you first played it at the arcade all those years ago. --Carrie Bell Pros: - Retains all the charm and excitement of the original arcade classic
- One of the best games for short spurts of gameplay
- Safe for all ages
Cons: - Joystick response is weak on sharp turns
- No new additions to the original version

A nice little pocket version of Pac-Man June 24, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great pocket version of Pac-Man. The Neo Geo Pocket control stick is difficult at first to get to respond as quickly as it should on sharp turns, but once you get used to it, it gets much easier. If you get the full boxed version you get a little plastic 4-way adapter that you snap onto the control stick to limit movement to up-down-left-right (no diagonals), and that makes the control just about perfect. I didn't think it would do much, but it made a noticeable inprovement in the control. A couple of extra 4-way adapters are also included in case of loss. Other than that, there's not much to say. It's Pac-Man.

one good thing is that even with standard shipping..i got this in 2 days...almost as good as the original arcade..the joystick on the neogeo is a little hard.. but the bottom line is..after practice..this game is awesome, and it is SO worth the money
It is but Pac-Man October 18, 2000 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Pac-Man: The story of a yellow circle that has a singular goal in life-to eat endless amounts of dots. He is chased by 4 ghosts who undenyably never give up their relentless chase of our hero. He can stop them by eating power pills, but he has but only four. If you enjoy this epic adventure, then this game is for you. It has the original graphics and sound. It is very challenging, as it always was--now because it has 2 different views to chose from. You can either be able to see one corner of the maze at a time, or the whole thing, which is better than the Game Boy version. I suppose the problem with this game is that it is simply Pac-Man and nothing more. There are no new modes, no new levels, and no new graphics. Pac-Man was a great game, and the legend lives on with this title. Buy it if you like Pac-Man, otherwise move along.

I love the original and I read a lot of complaints about the controls on the game. I found them to be true occasionally. But after around an hour of playing, I got used to it and I am having a lot of fun with the game. I prefer to play the full screen, but the scorlling mode isn't that bad. The only real problem (if its a problem) with the game is that the ghosts have a tendency to gang up and trap you. The game is alot of fun and definatly worth picking up
Pixel Perfect And Far Beyond Nintendo's Pitiful Attempt. April 28, 2000 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I don't care if the Game Boy Version of PAC-MAN came with PAC-Attack as a bonus game. The NEO*GEO version of the classic sticks true to the original in terms of graphics (Even if Scrolling Is Enabled). Only a handheld system more advanced than the Game Boy like The NEO*GEO Pocket Color could fit the bill for PAC-MAN. If The Game Boy Advanced can deliver a good version I'll try it. But for now, only the NGPC has it Pixel Perfect.
