Works great even with complex setup...a bit flaky with 2 devices powered on November 25, 2008 David Batzer (Midland, MI, USA) I am using this switch in a very complicated setup: PS3 Toshiba HD-XA2 HD-DVD player Tivo HD Xbox 360 My receiver is an Onkyo TX-SR605 with 2 HDMI inputs. I was hoping to use this to add a 3rd HDMI input. After HDMI leaves the receiver it is split again with a splitter to a projector and an LCD. This has caused problems before with HDMI handshakes with cheap devices...not so here. I did have trouble when trying to use it with 2 devices powered on and letting it do the automatic selection...not a big surprise. So it's best used IMO with devices that aren't always on, or with devices that you don't need on at the same time. Still, now I can use the HD-DVD player or the PS3 on the same input on the receiver and freed up another input. Very good product and the auto-switching is great for adding an HDMI input but not adding complexity.
Works great September 17, 2008 FooSoft (Seattle, WA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have an HD-TV with only one HDMI input, and I wanted to connect both my PS3 and HTPC to it. I was interested in getting some sort of switch so that I wouldn't have to manually re-plug the cable every time I wanted to change between the two. All of the other solutions were crazy expensive or generally reviewed as unreliable, so I decided to grab this smart switch as it is cheap and was reviewed well on other sites. I was actually kind of skeptical about the "smartness" of this thing, as I keep my HTPC on -all- the time, so I had a feeling it would get stuck on that input, and I would just have to use the manual override when I wanted to play my PS3 (which I do power off). I would have been totally fine with this (pressing the button to switch is easy), but when I got the unit, it was smart enough to figure out that when I turned on my PS3, that's what I wanted to use. As a result the thing works -perfectly-, and I don't have to touch it at all. Great deal.
