Product Description The second game featuring Sega's mascot Sonic the Hedgehog. The evil doctor Robotnik wants to conquer the world. In order to do that, he imprisons and transforms all animals into robots. This way they can build his powerful weapon, the Death Egg. Along with your sidekick Tails you must collect all the Chaos Emeralds, free the animals and defeat Robotnik. The game features 10 big zones in which you must defeat enemies and gather rings. It also features a 2 player mode, in which you can race with a friend.

rip off September 24, 2005 1 out of 8 found this review helpful
it is terrible. its a rip of the genisis version. you can't play with tails. when you have to deafeat the boss you have no rings. and the graphics is lousy. so don't buy it it's just a waste of money.
Probably the worst sonic game, but a good game May 6, 2005 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
What I said above pretty much sums up my feelings about this game. I have played practicaly EVERY sonic game in excistance, with only but a very few exceptions, and am a HUGE Sonic fan. of all the games, I have had the least amount of fun with this one, why? Mainly because the difficulty curve went beserk and would make you think such a thing as a "difficulty curve" was just a figment of your imagination and never existed in the first place. I was un-able to even get passed the first zone because of the "dodgeball" boss, dodging has never been my strong suit in gaming. This boss however has gone done in history as what many people would call the hardest boss in Sonic history. And guess what? I used a level select code (which I would put here if I still remembered it) to get myself to the last level, the one you could only get to if you had all the Chaos Emeralds. And I beat the final boss, hands down, with little to no difficulty once so ever!! Losing too many times to count on the very FIRST boss, and not even losing one life to LAST boss? That's like, mayjorly messed up! Also Tails (my fav character) wasn't playable, instead you had to rescue him from Robotnik, (that's pretty much the whole plot, though with the way the Chaos Emeralds are hidden, I dought that hardly any one who plays this will be able to acomplish this, even if they beat Metal Sonic). I'd don't get it, the Genisis version is like SOOOOO much better! But if you have a Game Gear it might be worth a buy, it's dirt cheap (I've seen it for sale for 1 penny before!), and is better than most other Game Gear titles, though not as good as all the other Sonic titles on the system (such as Tails Adventures and Sonic Triple Trouble). Bottom line: It's not really that bad and is still fun, if you're a hardcore Sonic fan you probably should get it, and if you're looking for more Game Gear games you probably should get it, every one else get the Genisis version instead!
Great Fun May 2, 2005 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
An old game never really goes out of style. Same is true with this game. It is an old game that has never gone out of style. As the levels go on we find them to become harder and harder. But the game is still easy enough for people of any age to finish the game. A great game overall.
A step up! November 26, 2004 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega game gear is a step up from the previuos Sonic title, Sonic the Hedgehog. The gameplay is a little better and the graphics are somewhat sharper. This game is a classic: it is the only Sonic title where you can actually handglide in one zone. If you have never played Sonic 2 for the game gear, I strongly suggest that you purchase a copy right away.
Good, but the game is hard November 22, 2004 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Well, I don't have a Genesis but I tested both. I have a Game Gear. I used PC to play the Genesis version. The overview: We go through Genesis and Game Gear in both.
Difficulty: Game Gear - Hard Genesis - Medium (average) Fun(out of 5 stars): Game Gear - 4 stars Genesis - 4 stars Worlds: Game Gear - A+ Genesis - A Enemys: Game Gear - Fantastic Genesis - Average
I could go on but you get it. Still I don't know why the 2 versions are different.
Summary: Buy Game Gear version you are TOTALLY a master at games! I've been playing for 6 years while I'm 10, starting with my NES, mastering many games, but this is the toughest I have! Buy it if you have been gaming for at least 10 years now! This game DESERVES bragging rights! Buy the Genesis version if you started less than that(I can beat this) get this. Just because a kid beat it doesn't mean you shouldn't buy! It rockz!
Both are good, see for yourself!
