Editorial Review Realistically animated fighters, wonderful 3-D environments, and the deepest gameplay to grace the fighting genre--what more could you want? Although Virtua Fighter 3 tb isn't without fault, it valiantly manages to bring all those things to the Dreamcast incarnation. VF 3 tb has always been less about over-the-top acrobatics and more about the raw realism of martial arts. In fact, one of the game's characters, Shun-Di, virtually mimics Jackie Chan's "drunken style" from the Drunken Master movies. New to this third installment of the Virtua Fighter series is the team battle mode, which lets you take a team of three fighters head-to-head against either the computer or a human opponent. The U.S. version also sports a much-improved practice mode: you can now set the computer opponent's difficulty levels and even configure their attacks. VF 3 tb successfully combines stunning visuals with multilayered gameplay, which makes it a must-buy for fans of the series. --Sajed Ahmed Pros: - Deep and rewarding gameplay
- New versus mode and improved graphics for the U.S. version
- Arcade-quality character and environmental graphics
- Complicated fighter artificial intelligence is effectively challenging
Cons: - Only 12 characters, and no hidden fighters
- Fighting depth can be lost, as success can also be had through button mashing
- Lack of peripheral options such as the now-standard theatre or quest modes

Lacks the polish of Soul Calibur but by FAR more rewarding April 29, 2004 Firstly Virtual Fighter 3TB lacks any sort of graphical polish whatsoever. The game is lacking in graphics when compared to Dead or Alive 2 and Soul Calibur but makes up for it in the technical and deep fighting fighting engine. This makes this a stand out title when compared to the watered down, all icing no cake titles mentioned above. The game is a must have for 3D fight fans. The characters are fun and the backrounds are decent and they add some strategy to the fighting as they are not simply a flat surface. The game is a must have, please go get it if you have a Dreamcast
hmmmm our we going back wards 2 is better then 3? December 24, 2003 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This game does not really meet its name of honor the graphics are bad for the people. Backgrounds are ok. Saturn owner get vf2 better. controls are as playin a complicated not meant to beat pc game of the early 90's.
Good but not great September 5, 2002 This game is good but when a game like Dead or Alive 2 graces the the Dreamcast and comes with way better gameplay well VF3 comes up short. However if your a fighting fanatic get this game.
Why would anyone buy this game? May 15, 2002 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Man, this game stunk. Sorry, there's no other way to put it. Let's start with the graphics, which will have you checking the jewel case to make sure you didn't load up Virtua Fighter 1 by accident. The characters look like they were built with Legos, which would be understandable in 1996, but in the age of Dead or Alive 2 and Soul Calibur, sumo wrestlers should not have corners. Next, the gameplay. After playing Virtua Fighter 2 endlessly, I was ready for a challenge. After playing this game, I was still ready for a challenge. With little effort, you can pound away on any character like you were tenderizing beef. Just punch first, then mash together a few more buttons to complete your "combo." Repeat until you get bored, which won't take long. Utterly miserable. So, let's see, poor graphics, awful gameplay . . . . I would have given this game one star, but I'm saving that for the next version of Shaq Fu. If you can think of any reason to buy this game over Dead or Alive 2 or Soul Calibur, you've got more imagination than I have.
GOOD OLD SCHOOL FUN!!!! February 25, 2002 If like 3-d fighting games of fighting games in general, you should get this game. While this can't be compared to Soul Calibur, this is a good martial arts game. (Should be rated Everyone).
