5 out of 5 stars Know what you're buying...   December 16, 2008

Although its a known fact that these particular drives have their issues, the fact that they're so inexpensive makes it less of a crisis. If you're buying a new drive, as others have stated, you NEED TO FLASH it before it will work in your XBOX 360. If you just expect Plug 'n Play, then make sure you don't give it a poor review when it doesn't work. Ive replaced this drive just once in the year and a half that Ive had the XBOX. With heavy play and kids using it, I dont think this is terribly unusual. Some might say they use their PC ROMS equally as much without problems, but chances are, your PC ROM isn't playing double-layer DVDs. Based on cost and ease of use, I recommend this product way above replacing the mobo for use with another ROM. Id rather replace this thing a couple times a year than do that!

The floppy drive replacement I bought for my son's XBox was in excellent shape and work just as advertised. I definitely would buy from this seller again. I got the drive in a timely manner and was very pleased.

Thanks, Jim

I replaced the Toshiba/Samsung drive that came with my Xbox 360 with this same model number(switched circuit boards) and within 2 weeks it was having the same problem as the previous drive(During game play the drive would stop and an unreadable disk error message would pop up. This message would say the disk was unreadable, and ask to remove disk and clean it. The disks were not dirty or scratched and of course I lost all progress in game play!). I lubricated the rails for the laser to slide on and it has fixed the problem for now. I think there must be a manufacturing problem with these things as far as lubricating the moving parts within the drive. If I were comfortable with flashing a different model/manufacturer's drive so that it would run in my Xbox 360, I would. This drive is not the answer. Also, never work on your Xbox 360 if it is still under warranty! I only did this because Microsoft wanted to charge me $100 to fix the problem! I could get a new Xbox 360 for $200! Good Luck!

The drive didn't come in original box, even though I paid for a new one. The drive did not work in an xbox 360 until I swapped electronics.
