4 out of 5 stars Sonic CD for the PC rules!   August 24, 2008

5 out of 5 stars One of the Best Sonic Games to date   June 20, 2008
Let's cross time and space to retrieve the fabled Time Stones from Eggman on the Little Planet and rescue Amy Rose from Metal Sonic!
Without further ado, Review time:
Graphics: Great Graphics on par with Sonic 1 & Sonic 2, the Special Stages' graphics and the moments where the Sega CD's scaling capabilities are shown are the best along with an awesome anime-like sequences for the opening and ending!
Control: Standard Sonic controls, but great nonetheless despite a bit of a watered-down Spin-Dash
Sound & Music: The Sound is awesome, the music is not too shabby (and Sonic Boom is awesome) but I found the Japanese and European versions' music is better than the US version in some ways after listening to them on [...]
Plot: Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik has learned of the secrets of the Seven Time Stones of the Little Planet over Never Lake and plans to use them for Dominance, while using Metal Sonic to kidnap a female pink hedgehog named Amy Rose and now it's up to Sonic to save the day!
Fun-Factor: Collecting all seven Time Stones, traveling back and forward in time, awesome gameplay and soundtrack is without a single-itty-bitty doubt one of the best Sonic Games!
And so: Buy it! It will make this a great addition to your Sega/Sonic/Sonic Team/Sega CD Collection!

5 out of 5 stars It's a Super Sonic Flight!Sega CD's finest game.   May 11, 2008
(This is the Sonic Gems Version)After Sonic 2 this is my favorite Sonic game. And out of the whole series,it is probably the most unique. The story takes place between Sonic 1 and 2(which explains why Sonic looks identical to himself in Sonic 1).Sonic and his self proclaimed girlfriend Amy Rose travel to a planet that appears over a lake every month. They find that Dr.Robotnik has taken over the planet.Amy gets kidnapped(By Metal Sonic) and it's up to Sonic to find her.Turns out the planet holds 7 gems that control time.As typical of the Sonic series Robotnik has every one.So Sonic also has to get the Time Stones back or something horrible will happen.(I'm not sure what,so don't ask)As far as gameplay Sonic CD really is just Sonic 1 redone.BUT....it has one cool feature. If you past certain posts scattered through the 6 zones you can visit the same zone in a different time period like the past, and 2 different futures. Also, there is a machine hidden in the past and if you destroy it you change the far future and destroy all enemies. As far as I know no other game has this feature. The bosses are really interesting, some aren't even the typical Robotnik duel.In fact, two bosses don't even involve hitting Robotnik. The music.Oh my,where to begin......IT'S FREAKIN INSANELY AWESOME!!!!All the zones have 4 incredible themes each for the Past,Present,Bad Future and Good Future. And of course there is the legendary title theme Sonic Boom. The zones are quite as fun as the music although Wacky Workbench is quite challenging. My favorite zone is Stardust Speedway. Now a fair warning before I conclude. The Sega CD that Sonic CD was released on is incredibly rare and quite expensive.I play this game on Sonic Gems collection on Gamecube so I would buy that if you don't own a Sega CD.Either way, this is one Sonic game no one should miss.Buy it and love it.

5 out of 5 stars Sonic's Shining Star   July 17, 2006
This was Sonic's greatest moment of all. Sonic CD allowed our little blue hero to enter the, then uncharted, world of laser disk games. The theme song, Sonic Boom, had vocals this time, the stage music was the best out of the series so far, (I'm pretty fond of the music for the Palm Tree Panic zone myself), and it featured the first appearances of Sonic's would-be girlfriend Princess Sally (known as Amy Rose in North America and the U.K.), and his evil silver plated twin Metal Sonic. The story: Amy gets abducted by Metal Sonic which tips Sonic off to who the bad guy is. Dr. Eggman, what a surprise. Seems the hard boiled one has discovered the exsistance of the Floating Planet, a small planetiod that orbits Mobius, and has decided that it would make a perfect egg fortress. Using a new group of crystals called the Time Stones the dasterdly doctor can go back into the Floating Planet's past and rearange it's history thus changing it's future into his own twisted image. Whew! That's a long plan. He has kidnapped Amy to use her as bait to lure Sonic into the trap that is Metal Sonic. Can Sonic save both Amy and the Floating Planet and stop Eggman from screwing up history? Well for once he can take it slowly, after all, he has all the time in the world...so to speak.
