4 out of 5 stars Game works but not orgional box.   April 12, 2008
I'v been a fan of F-Zero since the SNES game and having just got a Wii I had to get this game. The CD is in great shape and it had all the included books. I dont think it is in the original case but I could be wrong because I have never bought a GameCube game brand new.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic racing   February 24, 2008

My favorite racing games are all arcade-style ones. Forget realistic racing on a boring oval track - I can't get enough of ramping over buildings, hurling banana peels at passing go-karts, or rounding curves at over 300 MPH.

So for me, F-Zero GX certainly doesn't disappoint. It keeps you enthralled with an incredible sense of speed at all times, even pulling a near-constant 60 FPS when there are 30 (!) racers on screen at once. The pounding electronica soundtrack is excellent and proves yet again that Sega has the best sound team in the industry, hands down (and that's not all - each of the characters has their own special 'profile song' ranging from alternative rock to death metal, pop-punk to hip-hop and even a chiptune!) Graphics are crisp and clean, which is good since you'll need the good visibility while passing enemies on the narrow stretches. Controls are nicely responsive (and configurable!), load times are few and brief, and there's a wide range of modes and unlockables to keep players interested.

And then there's the difficulty. This game is TOUGH AS NAILS. It requires incredible patience to beat everything on even the 'hard' difficulty settings, let alone 'master'. Once in a while a game comes along that is so punishingly hard, people are justified in bragging about beating it on the most challenging level. This is one of those games.

By far I had the most fun playing this with friends. Like most GC games it supports up to four players at once. It's a lot of fun trying to elbow your buddies off the track at high speed. (One nice change from F-Zero X was the removal of the 'slot machine' dead players could play that would screw over the remaining racers - thank God!)

The game isn't totally flawless (what is?) - one irritant is that the cars aren't well-balanced and most players will simply pick the heavier machines time after time. The standard machines can be pretty lackluster anyway and often a custom machine will beat all - disappointing for fans of the F-Zero characters (Captain Falcon etc.) Far more disappointing is that unlocking all the secret stuff takes either incredible skill or access to a dwindling number of F-Zero AX arcade machines, so most players likely won't get to sample everything the game has to offer. Finally, it would be nice to have more tracks available (even if it meant fewer cars), since players will exhaust all the available ones within a few gaming sessions with friends.

Those problems aside, the game is a blast to play and provides a tough challenge for even the most hardcore gamer. At less than $10 most everywhere, this is one game all Gamecube racing fans should own.

5 out of 5 stars Sweet   February 5, 2008
Instant classic..still waiting for the Wii version! I like this one better than FZ X..mainly cause the graphics were cool looking. X had easier tracks but this one has a lot of tuffer one that you can fall from. Buy it

5 out of 5 stars So fun!   August 23, 2007
I just realized the other day that there was a gamecube version of F-Zero. I used to play the N64 version all the time and I loved that game so when I noticed the GC version I had to get it. I'm not disappointed, it's a fun game, and the tracks are even harder than the N64 version. Good luck passing all the races!
