3 out of 5 stars Love Sims, OfB is ok   August 9, 2008
It's a little harder to get going in Open for Business than I expected. I own Sims and several expansions and I didn't feel this one was as intuitive as the others to get started. Once I got going, it became easier. It seems to take a while to earn badges and I wasn't entirely sure at first how to earn them, but again, once I got going it wasn't too bad. Remember that if you open a business on your home lot, LOCK the house doors so that customers are not coming in whenever they please (very annoying). Also remember to buy an Open/Closed sign or people will always be coming over. In my neighborhood with 10 families, I only have 1 with a home business. It's taken time to figure it out, but it's working out. I wish there were a few more things I could do with the business, but this is a neat dimension to add to the Sims.

4 out of 5 stars A lot of fun if you are tired of home life   November 5, 2007

I find it difficult to run a business and also manage my home, but if you have single sims, or are just tired of being home everyday, you would probably find business ownership fun! If you really want to stay home, you can open a home business, but it's kind of annoying to have strangers popping in when you really need a shower and the baby just barfed everywhere. My sims are very domesticated;-) However, I have opened a flower shop, a day spa, and a home food service business, and have found them fun to operate:-)

5 out of 5 stars We Love Pets   January 10, 2007

I bought this after christmas for myself (I am a college student) and my sisters (twin 11-year-old girls) immediately fell in love with it. The difference in the amount of care that cats and dogs need is a good feature, because people who are less experience with the game (like my sisters) can have cat, while people like me, who are more experianced, can get a dog which requires more care. The addition of pets like the womrat are also great, especially since you can now name them which we were unable to do in the original sims. The ability to customize a dog or cat's features is an awesome idea and it makes the game much more interesting. There aren't too many new objects but the ones they added are still good. Overall it's a great expansion pack and I'm really glad that I got it because as a person who has been playing sims for nine years, it puts a little spice back into a game which has become way too easy for me, but is still easy enough for younger players.

3 out of 5 stars good, not great   January 5, 2007

i thought that this was a good game to play, it was fairly inexpensive and you get to make a living off your own store, that you either get to run, or work at, instead of sending your sim away for the day then to come back with a pay check... you actually earned the money that you recieve. I think that some things are really annoying though, because you end up spending much more on your employees and such, and barly make any money at all cause no one will buy your items if they are too expensive, so you have to have another job inorder to make enough to live. And the days go by so fast, you barely have any time to run the store, in between your sims other needs such as hunger and hygene etc.. Also, the customers get mad at really stupid things and end up never coming back and give your store a bad reputation. When i was playing, one of my lawn decorations (a flamingo) was tipped over, and they kept going into histerics about that, or if your trash is full they get really annoyed.
this also is very entertaining though because you are able to run a restaurant, a salon/hair dresser place, an entertainment spot, and pretty much any type of store you want. you can sell anything that is available in the buy mode. this expantion pack also comes with a lot of new objects, clothing, and hair styles, which are fun to use, such as costumes they can wear, a lot of shelving to put goods on, etc.
over all i think that this game was fun, being able to run your own business, but there were a few things that could be better.
