A good game for a console, not good enough for mac or PC June 26, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
RPG and adventure games for consoles are necessarily simple because of the limitations of an Xbox or a PS3. Fable is ported from an Xbox game, so if you are used to great fantasy adventure games like Diablo or Neverwinter nights then this is a big disappointment. It is also written with a series of stock cliches, you start out a kid, your village is killed, they take you to a guild to train you up. Every bit of dialogue is taken from the stockbook of boring lines and the horrible acting is cringe inducing. The Alignment part of the game affecting your appearance is very novel, if horribly pedantic: the game tells you when you're about to do something bad or good, and when you are making an alignment choice. Better alignment system were developed decades ago on better games, but again, it's a console platform. I'd recommend saving your money for Neverwinter Nights 2 if you want to game on a Mac. It's like playing the Sims on your computer vs. playing it on your Wii, there's simply no depth or breadth to Fable: The Lost Chapters whatsoever.
