I'm a grown up kid March 26, 2008 OK...I'm a grown adult, but I love this game. It's basically a RPG/strategy game. Not really hard like a Final Fantasy, but tons of fun. Graphics are great, but the music does get repetitive after awhile.
AWESOME February 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My mom is letting me review this game. I got this game and loved it! I am 9 years old and would recommend this game to any other kid who likes pokemon and video games. I play this game at least once a week.
Awesome Follow Up to Colosseum January 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My son loves Pokemon, both cards and video games. He plays several games on the Nintendo DS and has Pokemon Colosseum for the GameCube. He was able to pick right up with Pokemon XD and thought it was even more fun than Colosseum. I definitely recommend this game for any Pokemon lover.
The Colosseum Upgrade September 7, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness is almost identical to Pokemon Colosseum, except for several changes were made to make the game much more interesting and fun to play. For example, the graphics are improved, battling has been slightly altered, and you have a new character to start out the game with. As with any game, this game has its pros and cons.
Pros: - A wider choice of Pokemon to use throughout the game - Straightforward storyline - The problem-solving and puzzle parts of the game are not too difficult to figure out - Much better graphics - Easy controls
Cons: - Battling can become monotonous - Not too much depth to the storyline - Not a whole lot to do after the game is beaten - Not much appeal for replayability
In all, the game is good, but there are a few minor and occasionally irritating drawbacks that affect gameplay. However, depending on how big a fan you are of the Pokemon franchise, these drawbacks can be overlooked.
Same thing as Pokemon Colosseum July 22, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness is the sequel to Pokemon Colosseum. It's almost the exact same game, but it seems like Nintendo just changed a few things and added some more stuff. So I'll start my introduction of this review with some pros and cons of this game.
+ Long Adventure (Around 40 - 50 hours) + Purification is easier + Good Background Music
- Uses the same old graphics as Pokemon Colosseum (Which means that there is no new improvement) - Also uses a lot of places you have already seen in Pokemon Colosseum (Which almost means you're playing the same game again) - You can only catch shadow pokemon - Battles get annoying later in the game, because the battles take too long and the battles comes to frequently.
Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness has fairly good graphics. It's really good for the gamecube, but the graphics don't improve that much from Pokemon Colosseum. Actually the look quite similar and Pokemon Colosseum came quite a while ago. The background is bright and colorful and it's nice seeing the pokemon in 3-D and on the big screen. The pokemon also have nice animations for their attacks.
Some of the music in Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness is actually pretty catchy and it makes this pokemon game feel a lot better. Everything is in text, so there isn't any voice acting. Which is too bad and the pokemon make the grunting sounds. The background music is nice and goes with the mood of this game very well, but it won't stay on your mind for that long
The story mode is pretty long. (It took me forty hours to finish this game, while the reviews said twenty hours) You're a trainer who must save pokemon from the evil shadows. So you steal shadow pokemon from trainers and you raise them until they are free from the shadows. While doing that you get to fight the evil organization called Cipher and they plan to rule the pokemon world, unless you stop them. The pokemon battles are easy to understand and the battles are all in doubles. So you'll be sending out two pokemon at a time to battle the trainers.
The story, well I guess I just explained that to you already. Multiplayer is pretty fun if you get your friends to join in. You can battle your pokemon with each other and see who's stronger. The controls are fairly simple and you'll probably understand in the first hour of the game.
A pretty long game if you want to catch and purify all the pokemon, so have fun with it. The game is twenty hours long if you want to run through it, but it can take up to forty hours if you want to purify all your pokemon and be a good trainer and all that stuff.
Not so bad, in my opinion it's about the same as the original Pokemon Colosseum. If you're not sure about this game give it a rental before you purchase it. This game will last you for a while (mainly because of the long battles) and will have its ups and downs during some moments of the adventure.
