Product Description You know the shot heard round the world? You could consider Wolfenstein 3-D to be the gaming version of that. That first shot from BJ Blazkowitz fathered countless games over the years including a revisit to the castle nine years later and this faithful GBA port. While the original was preceded on PCs by its cousin Catacombs 3-D, Wolfenstein 3-D had a much greater impact on the industry and gamers making it one of the most influential games of all times. Along with its younger brother DOOM, Wolf 3-D popularized the 3D FPS, and started a new revolution in gaming.
Amazon.com Product Description The year is 1943. You are William "B.J." Blazkowicz, the Allies' bad boy of espionage. Your mission is to infiltrate the Nazi fortress and find the plans for Operation Eisenfaust, the Nazi's blueprint for building the perfect army. Captured in the attempt, you're taken to a Nazi prison where you await execution. However, you know where the plans are kept, and the Allies face a great defeat if you don't escape and risk the horrors of the prison known as Wolfenstein. Playing as an escaped prisoner in a Nazi war prison, you will move smoothly through a 3-D world full of guards, snarling canines, and rooms packed with Nazi treasure. With 60 action-packed levels full of secret passages and hidden rooms, Wolfenstein 3D for Game Boy Advance will appeal to audiences from the novice to the experienced. Note: This is a rare M-rated GBA game, and is not appropriate for those under 17.

Timeless game, lacking port August 10, 2008 I played the original Wolf 3D for years, it cost $10 just for the shareware version. The full version cost at least $50, so this is a dream come true for fans who couldn't afford the real deal ten or fifteen years ago. For $15 you can get all the episodes, that's a LOT of gameplay time.
However, for the three episodes I had, I remember really great music. Without the music, It seems as though the game is more tedious, more of a chore. It almost makes all the levels feel the same at times, which is dissapointing.
Other than this, the frame rate can make things difficult at times, slowing the fast action down to matrix-slow speeds [which isn't half bad, but when the action calms down it suddenly moves lightning fast and then you wonder how you lost half of your health].
If you really like classic games and you haven't played wolfenstein before, I would highly reccomend it; but if you played the original, and are familiar with it, it might not meet your expectations
Another good game turned into a BAD port May 31, 2008 It seems every time a company decides to make a GBA port of one of their classic games they always manage to screw something up-See Sonic The Hedgehog for the GBA. Wolfenstein is no exception, unlike previous versions this one does not have a map screen which makes it very easy to get lost and start running around in circles and the sounds sound like they were ripped by recording a door opening with a microphone and putting it into the game. If you listen to it with headphones you will know what I mean you can hear plenty of what is called the analog hiss during the sound effect. Also the sounds dont seem to fade away as much as you move away as they do in the SNES version. Also the biggest problem of all I saved for last, the game will crash without warning Ive played this game five times or so as of right now and I have had it crash on me twice. Once it even crashed on the developers logo screen. As a result youll be trying to get thru every level as quick as you can not worrying about whether or not you find everything because the game may crash. If you have the SNES or PC version stay away from this
Decent port, but it ain't the same without music. March 25, 2008 This is, as you can probably fathom, a port of ID Software's 1992 classic Wolfenstein 3D, scaled down and put into cartridge format for play on your Gameboy Advance.
First off, I want to say that the studio who ported it did a pretty good job overall. The graphics aren't as clean as they were on my IBM 386 back in the day, but I can forgive that kind of thing because the game feels the same. You move at the same rate, shooting feels the same, the only thing missing as far as gameplay goes is a keyboard.
The levels are faithfully reproduced- every secret door is where I remember it was, which is always kind of fun for those looking back with nostalgia. It contains all 6 original episodes (although you'd think that, barring some sort of legal entanglement they could have included its sequel Spear of Destiny).
There are two central problems with this port which are the main reasons I can't rate it higher. First, you can't save your game wherever you'd like (which you could do in the original). You can only save at the beginning and end of levels. Nothing sucks more than to make it almost to the elevator when an SS guy comes out of nowhere and guns your last 10% of health away. My other problem is the game's lack of music. Hey, what gives? The original had some classic MIDI tuneage courtesy of Bobby Prince, who also scored the Commander Keen games, DOOM, and Duke Nukem 3D. It's just not the same. Ever tried watching Star Wars wthout the music? It's like there's a key element missing.
A good port, but incomplete without music and frustrating without a save-on-the-fly feature.
Excellent May 5, 2007 I use to play this game for hours on computer and I was happy to get it once I got a Nintendo DS. Its a great game and I didnt have a problem with the graphics. Very fun, violent game. Doesnt really seem to be dated to me for some reason, then again I dont play video games much.
Violent, Cheesy and VERY Addicting. Instant Classic! May 1, 2007 Wolfenstein 3D is a very fun, violent and cheesy game. The levels are well done, and I love the extensive levels of difficulty. The only thing wrong is that you should have to beat one episode to go on to the next one(you start on Episode 3 and skip to Episode 6). I would strongly recommend this game to a pure classic lover. I love the retros :-)
