Product Description The Xbox 360 Arcade System is everything you need to start playing. With a Wireless Controller, 256MB Memory Unit, Xbox LIVE Silver Membership and 5 Arcade Games, there's never been a better time to jump in. Go play!
Amazon.com The Xbox 360 Arcade System gives you immediate access to the Next-Gen power of high-definition video, DVD movie playback, digital music, photos, online connectivity and of course the great gameplay that Xbox 360 is renowned for, while ensuring that you retain the flexibility to choose additional features to customize your system to your specific needs. | | Xbox 360 Arcade bundle with included accessories | Under the Hood of Xbox 360 Xbox 360 is much smaller than its predecessor--it measures approximately 3.3 by 12.2 by 10.2 inches and weighs 7.7 lbs. It's powered by custom IBM PowerPC-based CPU with three symmetrical cores each running at 3.2 GHz. It also carries a custom ATI graphics processor with 10 MB of embedded DRAM. This is powerful enough to draw 500 million triangles per second. In other words, it makes for great looking games on standard TVs, and even better looking ones on HDTV sets thanks to built-in support for HDTV (720p/1080i/1080p) resolutions. The unit has a 12x dual-layer DVD-ROM drive, which plays both the game media and progressive-scan DVD movies right out of the box. For game-save and media storage, Xbox 360 Arcade System users can choose to stick with the Memory Unit included with the bundle, or upgrade to either the detachable 20GB hard drive or the 120 GB hard drive (both sold seperately). Along with storing files, the hard drive will make the Xbox 360 backward-compatible with a large part of the existing Xbox game library.Control your Gameplay The Xbox 360 Arcade System comes with one Xbox 360 Wireless Controller with rumble. Xbox 360 uses a refined button layout for its controllers. Back and Start buttons sit at the center of the controller and between them is a new Xbox Guide button, which instantly takes the user to the Xbox 360 user "Dashboard" interface. From there, they can check for friends online, access personal digital content like photos songs, and more. The black and white buttons of the first Xbox controllers have been replaced with new shoulder buttons placed above the left and right triggers. The Xbox 360 can accommodate up to four wireless controllers and has three USB 2.0 slots to use for wired controllers or for streaming your digital media from digital cameras, MP3 players, and any Windows XP-based PC. Microsoft has also created a video-conferencing camera, sold separately, that will work with the system. The Media Experience All Xbox 360 titles can be played in either standard or high-definition resolution in 16:9 widescreen, with anti-aliasing for smoother graphics. Game designers will be able to take advantage of the system's multi-channel surround sound. The Xbox 360's digital media allows users to supplement any game's music from tracks in their own personal library. Five titles are bundled on a single disc included with the Xbox 360 Arcade System. These are:- Feeding Frenzy
- Luxor 2
- Boom Boom Rocket
- Pac-Man Championship Edition
- Uno
Go LIVE Xbox 360's built-in Ethernet port allows users to connect their system to the Xbox LIVE service via their broadband connection. Utilize the free Xbox LIVE Silver Membership included with your console or upgrade to a Gold Membership to create a Gamertag and gamer card to express your online identity, chat live with voice chat (separately sold headset required), and connect to Xbox LIVE Marketplace to download free and premium expansions, maps, game demos, movies, TV shows and other digital content. The separately sold wireless network adapter supports the common 802.11a, -b, and -g standards.Complete Contents of the Xbox 360 Arcade System

Good as an upgrade September 8, 2008 I think this is a great way to replace your old or broken x box system. My current one got the ring of death. It was the old version. I sold it in parts on Ebay. Console, power brick and wireless rmeote. I got $120 for everything. I kept my Hard drive and the HD cables. I only had to put up $80 more for this arcade version which got me 5 arcade games for FREE!!! I just installed my hard drive and used my old cables and voila!!! I have a premium system.
A lot quieter now, runs cooler and has HDMI output which I am now using. I will sell the other cables on ebay and get some more $$$.
Great for most people getting into Next Generation gaming September 7, 2008 The arcade model at the the new 199.00 price point is great for most people that want to get into Next Generation Gaming.
If you do not have an HDTV and are not planning on buying TV shows and tons and tons of downloadable games you do not need the hard drive. The component/HDMI cable is only needed if you have an HDTV. If your HDTV has HDMI then you can get one for about 5.00 on monocables.com. The Arcade model comes with everything you need to connect it to any old Tube tv.
Also, the ARCADE model will play all XBOX 360 games. You do not need a hard drive to play all of the games. You will hear many uninformed people tell you otherwise. You will need the Hardrive to play old Xbox games though. This is because the emulation software is stored on it.
NOw, if you want all of the extras you can buy for many games (sometimes they are free) you will have to go online to get these. Then storage may be an issue for you. It has not been for me because I do not want to pay for extra maps/cars/guns whatever.
Then there is the issue of no headset with the arcade model. Well, are you going to play online with your friends? Xbox live is 50.00 per year to do that. I have also found that most parents do not want their children to be able to talk to strangers online and the best way to fix that is not to provide a headset.
In the future if you do get an HDTV, the Arcade model has an HDMI connection for audio and video to flow through. Get yourself a 5.00 HDMI cable when that time comes.
If you end up becoming someone that buys lots of TV shows and extras online from Xbox Live Marketplace, you can then buy a hardrive separately.
The Hardrives are expected to continue to drop in price.
Xbox 360 Core Arcade Bundle September 6, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this in December of 2007 and mine still hasn't gotten the red ring of death. I think Microsoft has finally built a better system. The Arcade Bundle is great because now it's the cheapest gaming system out and you can just buy a hard drive later for cheap at a gaming store if you really need more space.
The graphics on the Xbox 360 are amazing! The first game I played was WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 and I was blown away. After playing it on the PS2 I never went back. I've built up my gaming library after 9 months with the system and I still can't believe how real each game looks.
The wireless controller that comes with the system is high quality. It fits right in your hands like it was made for it. It's very comfortable to use for hours and your hand doesn't cramp up. The A, X, Y, and B buttons are risen up so it's easy to press them unlike the PS2 buttons that after button mashing your thumb starts to cramp. The shoulder buttons are nice too, the Left and Right Bumper and the Left and Right Trigger buttons are also easy to press when button mashing because they don't require you to press really hard to get them to respond.
I'm still happy with my purchase, definitely no regrets. I might even purchase another one, but the new 60GB for the living room and move this one into my room.
Xbox 360 Core Arcade Bundle August 18, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Microsoft Xbox 360 is a great console! It offers a lot of fun and impressive game titles that have awesome graphics and sound quality. The fact that the 360 can play DVD movies without buying a remote, like the original Xbox, gave me a sigh of relief. The HD capabilities this console offers makes it all the more worth buying and the wireless controller is great! Another great thing about the Xbox 360 is the fact that if the hard drive fails you can easily replace it with a new one: if you have the money. But just let me inform you that the 20GB hard drive is a reliable source that can store a lot of memory and mine hasn't failed on me yet anyway. You can even store music from audio CDs in the 20GB hard drive which is a cool thing. The only bad thing about the Xbox 360 Core Arcade Bundle is that it doesn't come with a 20GB hard drive. You have to buy it seperately. The good thing is that it comes with a memory card and a free game. Thats what makes this product less expensive than others. The only complaint I have about this console is that it isn't 100% backwards compatible with original Xbox game titles. Now I have to keep my original Xbox console which takes up more space on my TV shelf. I hope that my original Xbox doesn't break down because I have a lot of great games for it that I still play and enjoy: hardly any of them can be played on the 360. Microsoft should have made the Xbox 360 completely backwards compatible. They would have been way ahead in the console wars. Oh well! I guess what really matters is the newer gaming titles we have yet to play and experience, not the older ones. I just hope Microsoft's next console is 100% backwards compatible with both original Xbox and Xbox 360 game titles. But, all in all, the 360 is an excellent console and my favorite out of all the recent gaming systems due to the fact that I like a lot of the games for it. I highly recommend you buy the Xbox 360! It is the best video gaming system in the market in my opinion. I bought the Xbox 360 Arcade Bundle. I bought it at a good price from Amazon.Com and it didn't bother me much to go out and buy a 20GB hard drive for it. So, on the whole, I feel as if I got a great deal.
So far, so good. August 12, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought this to replace an older 360 system with the Red Ring of Death. So far, this one has been flawless.
