This item was junk. The intercooler 360 would not function out of the box. I would have to assume they didn't test their product before shipping as my xbox 360 wouldn't even power up with this item attached.
NYKO did replace it but it cost me another $6 for return postage which they would not pay even though their product was defective. Think twice before buying this item..

This gives me added peace of mind on keeping the Xbox360 cool and ventilated to avoid the RRoD. So far over a year and the console has been perfectly fine. Only nuisance is the noise it makes on top of the 360 fans.
But otherwise, definitely recommend this. Oh yeah I have the black one to match the Elite.
And Amazon got the best price I found. Thanks!
Power trouble November 14, 2008
Don't waste your time purchaseing this for an xbox 360 elite console. Power cable is not compatable with cooler device. Bypassing the plug's incompatability will cause your xbox to red ring from lack of enough power. Wish I had know this before purchaseing it.
XBox 360 power cord doesn't fit October 30, 2008
Evidently these devices draw too much power from the 360 resulting in burn marks over time. I returned mine right away after reading about this. MS won't replace a 360 with these burn marks since the intercoolers are not approved accessories. My power cord wouldn't connect to the device as the instructions showed anyway...

i wont try to explain the physics behind the problem, just try the following experiment and you will regret putting the intercooler on the 360.
1. get a copy of Ninja Gaiden 2
why this game in particular? because lots of enemies in the screen simultaneously causes great stress on the drives and motherboard.
2. Try the game for a few stages with the intercooler
you will notice how cool to the touch your 360 is with this accessory
3. Play through the same stages WITHOUT THE INTERCOOLER.
Seeing is believing
