Amazon.com Product Description Sony's four-piece MHC-GX45 stereo system is built for power, packing a rafter-rattling 120 watts per channel across a pair of three-way speakers and a stand-alone powered subwoofer with an eight-inch woofer. You get a three-CD changer with play exchange (to swap two discs while a third is playing) and compatibility with not only homemade CD-R and CD-RW discs, but discs full of MP3 music files, too. The dual-well cassette deck offers full-logic performance and the FM/AM radio boasts 30 station presets (20 FM, 10 AM) for ultimate tuning convenience. A cool feature called Game Sync mixes the sound from the system's front-panel audio/video inputs with the sound of favorite music--whether from CD, MP3 CD, cassette, or radio--so you're not forced to choose between game sound and stereo sound. You can have either one--or both. Maintain a composite-video connection between the stereo and a television, and you'll have instant video access right from the unit's front panel. No cheap volume buttons here--the MHC-GX45 sports an easy-to-grab, illuminated center volume knob that goes all the way up. Other great features include shuffle, program, and repeat CD playback, CD synchro recording, a bright, easy-to-read, color fluorescent display, and a Remote Commander remote control to keep you in full couch-potato mode. Extensive audio processing enhancements include Sony's Groove and V-Groove Bass Enhancement circuits, as well as four preset equalizer curves with three-band parameter adjustments to heighten the power of your music or tailor the sound for a specific location. Further, Direct AV EQ adds 16 preset equalizer settings that cater to music (Pop, Rock, Soul, Oriental, Dance, Jazz, etc), movies (Drama, Action, and Musical), and games (Arcade, Adventure, and Racing). Direct AV EQ also lets you store customized settings in three personal files. And, if that's not enough, the system even simulates surround sound for spacious music or movie effects. Finally, VACS (Variable Attenuation Control System) is designed to ensure superb clarity, even at high volume levels. What's in the Box Main unit, two front speakers (model SS-RG440), a powered subwoofer (model SS-WG990), a Remote Commander remote control (model RM-SRG440), and a user's manual.

More features include CD-R/CD-RW and MP3 Playback, Full Logic Dual Cassette Decks, Groove and V-Groove Bass Enhancement, Surround Audio Effect, and Game Sync Mixing with Front A/V Inputs for Video Games. Great system December 30, 2003 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I got this as a Christmas present and let me tell you, I've never owned anything with such great sound. In my opinion it was priced far to low. It has multiple bass settings and a subwoofer that can be turned off if needed. It may not have a flashy screen or buttons but the great sound defenitly makes up for that.
Excellent, crisp clean sound December 30, 2003 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
With a budget of $300, I shopped around for minisystems, listening to products from Panasonic, JVC, and Sony. Panasonic systems tend to have a muffled sound. I quickly ruled them out. The JVC GT88 has a slightly tinny sound, but the JVC Z10 is better and has excellent bass. However, this Sony really has the best overall sound. JVC just had good bass - the sound from above seemed to get lost. The Sony has the best quality sound and costs $100 less than the JVC. Music lovers, this is your system. Rap/Metal Listeners or anyone who just wants bass, go for the JVC GT88.Additionally, out of all the systems I looked at, the Sonys have the best overall appearance. The rest are way too gaudy. This unit is simple yet attractive. Sony MHC-GX45 - A great deal for $200.
