 BDA Nintendo DS Traveler Case - Not Your Best Option August 19, 2008
The Nintendo DS Traveler Case Blue is certainly going to meet a need for a lot of people who need something to transport their unit in. It comes in a variety of colors including Nintendo DS Traveler Case Chili Red, Nintendo DS Traveler Case Black and Nintendo DS Traveler Case Raspberry. The clear plastic is attractive looking enough. And the interior is a firm cushion that holds your DS good enough I guess. After looking them all over I bought the blue one to give as a gift. While there are a few positives, this is definitely not the best option out there.
1.) The case has a 2 compartment seperation for games and styli in the top and the DS in the bottom. The center button used to open the compartments is kind of clunky and not well designed.
2.) The case is not well designed for standing up to abuse. The external plastic will scratch easily and if dropped will most certainly crack and break.
3.) The internal rim of the plastic has some sharp edges and burrs that may scratch you or cut you if you grab it the wrong way.
4) The pricing is not a great value based upon the construction and the alternatives that are out there.
5) The case is not practical for use during playing your DS. So ask yourself, do you really need a suitcase for your DS that can't protect it when you play? And if you do go through the trouble of playing with the DS in the case, you may scratch youself because of the edges.
Now if you really want something to just act as a suitcase, you should really look at something like the Nintendo DS Lite Nerf XL Case - grey/blue. Or get the Nintendo DS Green Nerf Lite Armor in one of the many colors if you want a case to play with and protect your DS at the same time.

I bought this case (albeit in pink, not black) for my daughter for her DS Lite, and am ordering the black one for myself. It's a fairly decent case -- it holds the DS Lite (not an original DS), your extra stylus that comes with the system, and a few game paks.
Since it's plastic, I'm sure the tabs that hold the case shut are going to bust eventually with continued use, but so far they've held up well enough. The only thing I would change, and the reason I gave it only 4 stars, is that I wish there was a place to store the battery charger.
It is padded well, with a rubbery material that grips your DS Lite, so that it isn't rattling around in the case, and absorbs any shocks made to the case.
Overall, a decent case, especially for the price.
