Building Money May 17, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The Tower for the Gameboy Advance is an economic simulator similar to tycoon type games, where your main goal is to make a lot of money or reach a certain number of people attending to make it to the next level. You place condos, offices and restaurants, they will be your tenants in the building, they will pay you money for the lease on the floor they take up; this is how you make your money. As the building gets taller and you add more floors ontop of another, it will require more maintenance.
To keep your building running smoothly, you need to place security guards that patrol the building during graveyard hours and janitors that clean restrooms and tenant space during the daytime. You do this by adding janitor rooms, security rooms, medical rooms help reduce stress of occupants, restaurants are also need so that people have a place to eat. The same creators of Simcity created this game which is actaully a port of an old Pc. game called "Sim Tower". You start with enough money to place a couple of rooms and a few floors. You can open menus and get statistical information by pressing the "L" and "R" buttons. The directional controller guides the in-game cursor and the "A" button places items in the game. Once the rooms get rented out, all you do is sit back and watch the money increase automatically. The game basically has a "set it and forget it" concept. The Tower plays itself and requires very little interaction from you after you have set things up. It is this lack of interaction which makes the game boring; because after you've reached your goals and finished building, all you do is watch it.
Pros: +tycoon type game +good controls +good difficulty +easy to learn +good menu system
Cons: -little interaction -very slow pace -weak graphics -no animations -one dimensional -no replay value -set it and forget it
A Towering Bore April 17, 2006 5 out of 10 found this review helpful
"The Tower" is a port of the 1990s game "SimTower," which itself wasn't all that interesting. Here's the entire premise of the game: you place offices, condos, restaurants, etc., in your tower, and you sit back and watch them make money. That's all there is to it. If that sounds boring, it's because it is.
The graphics aren't that great, either. This game is definitely not worth your money.
