As its name implies, The Force Unleashed completely re-imagines the scope and scale of the Force by taking full advantage of newly developed technologies that will be seen and experienced for the first time: Digital Molecular Matter (DMM), by Pixelux Entertainment, and euphoria by NaturalMotion Ltd. Paired with the powerful Havok Physics™ system, these new technologies create gameplay only possible on the new generation of consoles. DMM incorporates the physical properties of anything in the environment so that everything reacts exactly like it should - wood breaks like wood, glass shatters like glass, plants on the planet Felucia bend like plants on the planet Felucia would, and more. Meanwhile, as a revolutionary behavioral-simulation engine, euphoria enables interactive characters to move, act and even think like actual human beings, adapting their behavior on the fly and resulting in a different payoff every single time.

While I enjoy Star Wars, I'm not someone who has all the movies or even goes so far as to say I'm not annoyed by Jar-Jar. Yet when I first saw trailers for this game, where this character brings down a destroyer and explodes with the power of lightning, force push, and lightsaber duels, I wondered: Could this title be the Star Wars game - nay, Star Wars movie - I always wanted to see? Then I read all the reviews, almost all of which expressed disappointment.
After receiving the game for Christmas, I can say I disagree completely with the reviews. This game makes me feel the way God of War II did when I put it in my PS2 - in control of a powerful yet conflicted character whose rage fills the screen with spectacular effects and battles epic bosses, finishing them with cinematic quick-time events. Both games were all about FUN, and both succeeded spectacularly for me. I could not stop playing Force Unleashed until I beat it, and I plan to go back and play again with the more powerful, upgraded Star Killer to enjoy the battles and unlock the alternate ending.
That this game made me put off starting Resistance 2 and Call of Duty: WaW should tell you how much I've enjoyed it. The only drawback is knowing, when the game is over, how the story must end. For it is part of Star Wars lore and we know which characters appear in A New Hope.
I'd have paid full price for this much fun and been happy about it. Now that you can get it cheap through amazon, I encourage anyone who enjoys games such as God of War to pick this one up!

I've got to stop ordering games before reading lots of reviews on them. This is a great example. I pre-ordered this game thinking it would be the best Star Wars game. I was wrong.
Pros:
-Nice graphics
-Cool force powers
-The Apprentice has some nice costumes
Cons:
-WAY to short (about 5 hours long)
-WAY to easy
-Overhyped
-You'll never remember the combos
-They offer you force powers that you don't need
-No reason to replay
-DLC
The reason I put DLC as a con is that several weeks after the game launched, LucasArts released DLC. I wouldn't have a problem with this if it was free, but it was. They could of added the content to the final game, but no, they wanted to make more money. I absolutley hate when developers make games then release DLC that could've been put in the final game. They released a few character packs, missions, and costumes, charging up to $15. Another thing I absolutley hated was the part where you bring down the Star Destroyer. In the trailer from E3 or whenever, they showed it as you being able to bring it down in seconds. That would've been really cool. But in the final game you have to bring it down literally inch by inch. And not just that, enemy ships come down every few minutes so you have to stop, destroy them, start bringing it down again, destroy the ships again. It could take up to an hour and was just terrible. I wound up selling it to buy an acually good game like Resistance 2. So do yourself a favor and just avoid this game.

I got this game as a gift from my wife. And WOW! It's the best action game I've ever played! I was addicted to the game from the first push of the button as Vader cleaning house on Kashyyk! It took me about 10 hours to complete the easy level and am excited to begin taking on the next difficulty level, esp since I am more familiar with the buttons and abilities I have. For the hardcore gamer, the first round is obviously just to get acquainted with the game-play, control configurations, and characteristics. The play is outstanding! Anyone who likes the shoot'em up games must have this in their library of games. The force abilities are so FUN to do! This game is design with the player in mind! I AM A JEDI! You will know what I'm talking about once you place your hands on the controls! Mwaahahahah! I just had to remember to turn off my PS3 when my wife headed off to bed! Props to Lucasarts on this great achievement--and all this on blueray baby! It is the best and most fun 1st person game I've played! 3 cheers for Unleashed!

I know there are a lot of gamers out there who really get into the whole puzzle and menial task aspect of the hobby, but I am not one of them. I like to actually play my games. I dislike having to go through the frustration of figuring out how to get from one place to another, or how to unlock things to allow the story to progress. A little bit of that can be fun, but in the case of this game it makes it almost too annoying to continue playing.
And this why: many times when you die, you get set back so far in the play that you sometimes even have to sit through the same mini cut scenes every time you move to the set off points. What's worse, you often have to re-kill several of the larger enemies. Eventually this sort of thing brought me to the point of deciding the game was no longer fun. There are only so many times that I will want to repeat the same tasks before realizing I have far better things to do with my so called life. Just wait until you get to the Death Star level - this is where if ever you should die, (which likely you will) after having sat through Juno telling you what to do, defeating two AT STs, two purge troopers, several peons, and Imperial Royal Guards - after having played around on the gravity beams - you will have to repeat this again and again any time you die in the frustration of trying to figure out just where you're supposed to be going.
I'm sorry but being set so far back really makes you realize what a waste of time it is to be playing video games in the first place.
So what had started off as great fun and classic beat 'em up gameplay quickly degenerates into frustrating repetition and the growing realization that you should be finding far more important things to do with your precious time.
Too bad though. This would have been a fun game if only it had more action and less repetition and fewer annoying "puzzles" that must be repeated almost after every time you die. Moral of the story: don't ever, ever, ever die in this game unless you enjoy having a sort of Groundhog Day effect upon your life as you sit idly in front of a TV wasting away.
