 great value for the money June 21, 2008
Although the Zen has been out for awhile there is still almost no accessories for it in stores. As far as I can see Amazon has the best selection. I chose this one and am quite happy with it. I was surprised to see it came with a belt clip which was a nice extra

Once you put these on there next to impossible to get off and While I was trying to take mine off. One of the Plastic Snaps on the End broke off. So now one corner of the player is slightly open to Dust. Not much, but enough to give concern in a dirty environment. Also for some strange reason there is a Hole in the back of the case in which Dust has collected on the back of the Player. So from time to time I try to blow it out.

I wish the clear was available when I bought this product, but SMOKE still looks pretty sharp. Clips on and off easily, durable... all-in-all, great buy!

I bought this case for my Zen nearly 6 months ago, but not through Amazon as it was not available at the time. I have used it for 6 months and I usually carry it around in my jeans pocket - Zen inside the hard plastic case. At first, I was excited about the case because it was a solid fit and it felt very protected. I've dropped it several times and watched the player skip across the ground without it skipping a beat so I don't worry about dropping it or bumping it in any way. However almost immediately after I inserted it into the case, I noticed that ever so slightly it dulled the colors on the screen - but it was a small trade off for the protection (so I thought). Then after a few days, maybe a week, some scratches started showing up. Again, not a big deal. After about a couple months of normal use I noticed dust and other tiny particles slowly creeping their way into the case. I didn't think much of it because I knew I could just pop off the case and clean it if I wanted to. Well, I finally got around to doing that and I came to discover that, because the case fits so snugly around the player, whatever small, hard dust particles had been trapped between the case and screen caused little divots in the screen (rather than scratches). This essentially rendered my case useless, because the main reason I wanted a case was to keep the screen from being scratched or damaged. In fact it was the screen in conjunction with dust (and admittedly lack of maintenance) that caused the screen to be damaged. I suppose it would only take a few small particles or maybe sand to work its way beneath the case to damage the player's face, and I would hope that regular cleaning would prevent this from happening, so be warned: keep your case clean!
PROS:
Solid and sturdy case
Fits snugly
Small and Simple (no belt clip loop, no wire management, no prop stand)
CONS:
Will not prevent damage to the screen from dust or particles that get inside.
With normal use it requires regular cleaning to keep the dust out.
Scratches Easily.
Ever so slightly dulls the colors on the screen.

this case does a good job of preventing scratches on the player, but the plastic its made of scratches more easily than anything i've ever seen.
also-it fits so tightly that it presses on the screen causing some distortion. doesn't damage anything, just looks funky.
i'm happy that i have something to protect my player, but it doesn't do much more than that.
