PS3’s sales begin to gain speed.

Sony is no doubt feeling pleased with themselves today. After such an initially rough start with the release of their PS3 gaming console that featured massive shortages, long lines of people parked outside stores for hours at a stretch, and often experiencing outbreaks of violence on the way home or even still in front of the store Sony representatives announced that the sales of PS3 have finally peaked at 2 million with half of the figure representing the Japanese market. This may signal the start of the PS3's expected dominance of the home console market for, according to this report , the PS3 has only been on the market for a period of two months and yet was the first to reach this milestone. However, despite all the glad tidings that this news represents for the company there is still the fact that Sony missed it's original deadline due to the problem with supplies of a critical component for it's Blu-Ray drive system.

However the company plans to press on as Sony announced that they will boost production of PS3s to six million units by the March of this year. Nintendo, maker of the Wii console, has announced a similar scheme to reach the six million mark itself at the same time as Sony. The race between the Wii and the PS3 seems to be continuing to gain speed and we at MyGamer will continue to keep our readers updated on this story and others in the gaming world.
