LEGO Marvel’s Avengers Preview

Introduction

Lego Marvel’s Avengers is a console video game featuring storylines and characters from both Marvel’s The Avengers and Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron movies. In this upcoming Lego game you will get to play as some of the greatest Super Heroes ever created.

The official release date for Lego Marvel’s Avengers is January 26^th, 2016, and it will get a release on the XBOX One, Xbox 360, Playstation 4, PlayStation 3, PS Vita, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and PC. That’s eight consoles in total, so everyone will have the opportunity to play this action/adventure game.

Characters

If you’re a fan of Marvel then you will not be disappointed to find that this game will feature over 100 playable characters, as well as characters from the previous game. Characters from both the movies and comic book universe will be featured in Lego Marvel’s Avengers! Director Arthur Parsons spoke on the game, saying “Comic books, movies, cartoons. It’s everything you love about the Avengers in video games.”

For example, fans of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D will be happy to find that Agent Coulson is a featured character. Some more notable characters include Black Widow, Captain America, Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Quicksilver, Ultron, Thor, Loki, Ms. America, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Crossbones, and Squirrel Girl. It’s a long list of characters, so your favorite are most likely featured in the game somewhere.

Main Features: Audio, Storyline and Gameplay

There are four LEGO video games that have used audio from original movies, which means the voices, lines, and sound effects came straight from the movies the games were based on. We saw this with LEGO The Lord of the Rings: The Video Game, The LEGO Movie Video Game, LEGO The Hobbit: The Video Game and LEGO Jurassic World.

LEGO Marvel’s Avengers will be the first LEGO Superhero game to use a movie’s audio in replacement of unique voice acting. This is actually a cool feature on these LEGO games, as we become fond of the characters we see on screen and expect their voices to be the same (or very similar) when we play a video game.

With that said, it’s no surprise the storylines come straight from the movies, so we already know what the game is all about, but it’s the experience of solving puzzles with co-Avengers that will make it a great game. We also know that LEGO Marvel’s Avengers will feature combo moves that can be performed with your teammates to take down strong enemies.

This will also be the first LEGO Marvel game to feature a suit-up screen for Iron Man, and each different suit Iron Man wears will change the gameplay. That’s a cool feature, especially for Iron Man fans!

New York City is the main location in Marvel’s Avengers, but it is also known that we will be able to visit Hawkeye’s Farm from the movie Avengers of Ultron. The free roam gameplay is definitely one of the more exciting features, as you get the opportunity to search for gold bricks and studs in the open world. The website mentions you will get to visit “iconic Marvel Cinematic Universe” locations from the around the globe, but we still don’t know the specifics.

There are still more details that we expect LEGO to reveal as the game’s release date gets closer, but for now we can say with confidence that LEGO Marvel’s Avengers is a must-buy for any Marvel or LEGO fan. The large selection of Marvel characters is enough to get any fan’s attention, and the open world, action-packed gameplay is enough to make you want to make the purchase. If you’re a large fan of the movies then this game should be an exciting experience as the voices and sound effects will be straight from the films.
