Jim Carrey lends voice to new game

Jim Carrey will reprise the role of Count Olaf in video game adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events.

“Jim Carrey spent an entire day in the studio recording voice-over for the Count Olaf, Stephano and Captian Sham characters in the game,” said Activision VP of Global Brand Management Lisa Gaudio. “Mr. Carrey was given a script to work from. However, he ad-libbed a lot of the voice-over so that he could truly lend his personality to the characters.”

Carrey has complete approval rights when it comes to his virtual alter
ego, as he has been part of the game-creation process since its beginning.

The game also features the voices and likenesses of Liam Aiken and Emily Browning, who play the two older Beaudelaire orphans. Tim Curry, who narrates the related audio books, also plays a significant voice
in the game.

Players will take on the roles of the plucky orphans Violet, Klaus and
Sunny Beaudelaire as they strive to keep their family fortune from the
devious clutches of Olaf.

The game ships November 9 for all current game platforms.
